Before I start I must say I love my husband dearly BUT today he has gone to visit his sister for five days. I have organised my meals for the next few days for when I am hungry, and am ready to block, sew on buttons, knit, catch up on taking photos and anything else I want to do, when I want to. I know I will miss him but five days of 'my time' sounds good to me.

Absolutely! My husband for the last 15 years or so has taken what the girls and I call " his mancation" every Feb.. He goes to Tucson with 5 childhood friends for 6 days. We eat dinner much earlier. We have one night if " breakfast for dinner", we rent a movie or two and eat in the family room family style. We have a game day marathon. As the kids grew up, the tradition continues. The last year my daughter was in college, she came home for the weekend. We had a " girls only" weekend. How much fun we had!
Now it is just my youngest daughter and I. We still look forward to this "mom and me" time. I get a lot of knitting done. Meals are easierAND much earlier.

I recently had 10 days of "me time" whilst my DH was away. Apart from meals being easier and doing what I liked when I liked, I noticed there was so much less dust and fluff in the bathroom, no mess at all in the kitchen, and things stayed where I put them - bliss!!

I love my "me" times when my dh goes off somewhere. And he also enjoys his time alone when I go away. We've been married 44 years, but are honest with each other that we like our own space. Maybe that why we get along so well :)

I get freedom once a week when my partner goes fishing from 9am to about 9pm. Love it. Can stay in pj's until I want to get dressed, can eat dinner at 5 if I want to, but the best is I can knit all day without be bothered.

The last "Me-cation" I had was when my DH went out of town at the end of November/beginning of December. He was originally going to be gone only 2 days - Thursday and Friday, returning Saturday morning. That was no vacation for me since I had to work those 2 days.

HOWEVER, we had an ice storm!!! Airports shut down, roads not driveable. It was pure heaven. I was off that Friday due to the inclimate weather and he couldn't get back into town until Sunday afternoon. It was just me and my youngest son. We ate what we wanted, when we wanted, watched sci-fi movies, listened to music and chatted and played cards and I knitted up a storm. Even did some online Christmas shopping. House stayed spotless.

Wish I could get another me-cation, but don't see one coming in the near future.

Himself has just landed a big contract that involves him working away from home one week on/one week off. Have to admit I get so much done when he's away. House stays clean and tidy, no packed lunches every morning at the crack of dawn and no fancy cooking!!

Only down side is that I still have to get up early to phone him awake. I asked couldn't he use the alarm on his mobile phone and he said that he likes to hear my voice first thing in the morning, bless him.

Love him to pieces but I do enjoy a bit of me time and I hope you enjoy yours :D
