I hope everyone knows. Stores that sell puppy treats made in China are pulling them from the shelves. They are tainted, causing kidney failure etc. and dogs are getting really sick. There has been at least 600 deaths so far.
Don't give them to your puppy.

READ EVERY LABEL.

Run, don't walk, away from any food products from China.

Be particularly watchful at the dollar stores.

Products, both merchandise and food, can be labeled made in USA even if the raw ingredients are brought in from foreign lanzar, then assembled here. So, anything that has a combination of ingredients, email the company and ask where they source their component materials.

If there is no email address on a package, there is usually a toll free number listed. Call the toll-free number and ask for their email address. It is very important you get their answer in writing. It is far too easy for a customer service person (who may respond to your question even if they don't know the right answer) to give you an inaccurate verbal reply. They are much less likely to answer incorrectly on paper.

Its been an issue now for over 5 years. Not new news.

The one company that did supply the tainted chicken is now only supplying for one US company. And I do not recall the name.

Treats other than fresh cooked chicken/beef is bad for any dog. No matter how good the commercial is that tells you otherwise. Its a lot of loaded junk that shouldn't be fed to any animal.

So just don't buy the garbage and you wont have a single problem.

One of the Big Pet Supply Stores around here is advderizing that, as of the first of the year, they will no longer sell dog food made in China.

Sounds compassionate to you?

Well -- why not "As of NOW" rather that 7 months from now????
Any why only dog Food?

Could it be that they will stop buying the stuff from China, but aren't willing to stop selling the supplies in there warehouses? It's not going to make any difference to your dog, cat, ferret or other pet if they get the tainted stuff.

I'm with cakes. I make my own homemade treats for Cornelia (my avatar) and Tessie and Penelope, my cats. I also make homemade toys for them.Thick fabric braids are the favorite for throw and tug toys. No storebought treats and toys. Denise

We all need to remember that most MD's and veterinarians do not graduate at the top of their classes.....

There's been a lot of controversy about the amount of preservatives in animal foods. In some cases it is 500 times higher than is considered safe for humans. Because there is no regulating that industry anything goes and unfortunately it is our fur babies that pay the price with their lives. Here in Australia a company called Choice did a survey of animal foods and listed all of the results. I'm happy to add here that the brand I always buy for my babies was the second highest in the safety stakes.

Could you supply a link to the survey?
