Gauge help

909 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Lil Kristie
I need some help. I've been crocheting since I was 16. I'm having a very big senior moment.

I'm making a sweater for my GD. The pattern says gauge is: 11 DC = 4 inches, 6 rows = 4 inches, using an I hook and worsted yarn. I have less stitches and rows using the I hook. I can't remember if I need to go up or down a hook size to get the correct gauge.

Thank you.

Use a smaller hook. Too many stitches, use a bigger hook. Too few stiches, use a smaller hook.
Thank you very much. Not feeling the greatest today. Been dizzy and lightheaded and mind did not want to work at all.

If you don't have enough stitches, you are making them too small, so you need a bigger hook!
Thank you very much. Found the right gauge. Had to go up a hook. One of the colors she wants in it, I have to double, as it is thin yarn.
