The fairies were to blame.

I honestly do not think you put it in the bottom of your knitting basket and forgot it or lost it there; I think the fairies borrowed it and when they say how upset you were they returned it to the bottom of your knitting basket. Happens to me all the time. I think I have lost something and then remember the mischievous fairies are always borrowing things. I just ask them to return the missing item when they have finished with it. And yes, the item then suddenly turns up in a place I had checked and rechecked.

You must remember to thank the fairies for returning your blanket otherwise their feelings may be hurt.
It won’t be the Fairies, they are mostly kind little beings.
This will be down to the Elves who are a real mischievous bunch, in fact it could also be the Pixies. They are also mischievous but they do resemble Fairies to look at and that’s why real Fairies get blamed for any misdeeds. 🧚

My husband and I have decided that the quickest way to find anything is to blame the item's misplacement on each other. "Where did you put my...?" is a common question around here. In fact, he's even taken to suggesting it when I'm looking for my glasses.

Exactly what happens in our house, he is also excellent at finding 0.2mm beads on the carpet, or shaggy rug.

Mine doesn’t quite do that. He just asks me where the item is, as though I should know where he’d put it. Usually, it’s in full view - exactly where he had left it.

I found my blanket......joy joy joy. It was in my knitting basket the whole time, but I must have put it in the bottom so it didn't get lost, and I lost it. Happening too many times to count recently. Short term memory loss here I come. So happy.
And your marriage is not at risk….. so glad it’s re-emerged. I know what you mean about putting things in safe places (where DID i put that?)

Yes, I call it putting it in a safe place...so safe, that I can never find it again!

Whey my daughter would misplace things, thanks to "Dora the Explorer" who would say, "Go back - go back to where you were!" when you lose things - I would say that phrase to DD when young and by the time she was a tween, she would look at me, and I swear I could almost hear a growl from that look. LOL. Good advice, though.

Now to find the 3 things I am missing in their 'safe' places...

LOL, Elation
