I made this for my niece for her birthday.

My poor son is a rather reluctant model and me promise not to show this pic to anyone....

I loosely used this pattern:

But I didn't want to mess with short rows so I left them out and just knit it in the round on a 16" circ.

Your son is a real trooper and I love his coonskin cap!! My little brother had one back in the 50's. He used to sleep with it. Your sons kitty is precious!!
The head band turned out so pretty and will look gorgeous on your niece.
