I've been reading at this site for a few weeks and feel so happy to have found such a great group with so much knitting (and crochet) knowledge.

Born and raised in Seattle (minus a few years of travel due to dad's work), I now live on the other side of the state in Spokane.
Moved over her about a decade ago so I could live closer to my only child (a daughter) and my three grandchildren.

I learned to knit during the year my family was stationed near Sydney, Australia. Even though I was only in the third grade, knitting was a required class for all young girls. It wasn't until I was in my late twenties that I really began to knit on a regular basis.

I find knitting to be such a Zen-like experience...love the process as much as the finished project.

Look forward to meeting new people and learning new techniques.
I'm also an avid quilter.

I'm in Phoenix but my brother moved from CA to Spokane 5 years ago. He moved there with a number of my crocheted items including 2 bed spreads.

Thanks for commenting, Carole.

Gosh, I wonder how your brother is coping with Spokane's long cold winters after living in Phoenix. Getting used to the difference in weather has been my biggest challenge.

Hello
I am new to knitting and new to this site but wanted to introduce myself to you. I live quite close over in Moses Lake in central WA about 100 miles west of Spokane. If I make it to Spokane sometime I will have to inquire about the knitting stores there. However I don't get up there very often. I am mostly blind and do not drive so have to wait until someone I know is making a trip over.
Welcome though to the site seems like a very friendly and helpful group.

My husbands family is from WA state, and I have a daughter in Everett (North of Seattle) and one in Spokane. We lived in Seattle and Everett for about 16 years before a job transfer brought us to California. I put my knitting away for years due to work and hating to work with yarn when its 100+ plus.
I have a new grandbaby due the end of April and have managed to get re-bitten by the knitting bug since just before Christmas. Normally I spend a lot of my time working genealogy but, it has kind of faded to the back right now.
Love this forum and all the help from all the wonderful crafters!
It's been a wonderful refresher. I have learned lots of new tricks and stitches and love how everyone encourages and helps everyone else.

Hello Everyone. I'm a transplant from N.Minnesota to Cheney in WA. state via many other places. This is my last stop. We have a couple greenhouses, raise veg plants to sell at Expo in Spokane, have a large garden for ourselves and in my quiet time, I do a lot of knitting, crocheting and other projects. Summer time is when I knit socks and small items, the rest of the months I knit and crochet larger projects and at this time have 2 projects in the works plus teaching a friend how to knit socks.

Enjoy the chit-chat. Learn something new or remember how to do something even after knitting and crocheting for 68 years.
