I'm ready buy yarn to make a crocheted afghan. It's from an Annie's Attic book, "Learn To Do Bavarian Crochet". The finished size is 46 x 46 inches. I want to make it larger, in the neighborhood of
60 x 60 inches. Is there any formula for calculating how much more yarn, or a good way to estimate what I'll need? Any and all advice is most welcome!

46x46 = 2116 square inches
60x60 = 3600 square inches

3600 / 2116 = 1.7 (or 170%) meaning that the size you want to make is about 170% of (or 70% larger than) the pattern size. You will need about 70% more yarn.

difference of 1484 divide by the original 2116 = about 70%
You should need about 70% more yarn if you make it 60x60 (not quite double, but getting there).

If you could measure your stitches, and find out how many stitches are needed, you could use a c2c calculator.
