Hello everyone. I need some help on a pattern. It says "(dc, ch 3, tic). I have searched everywhere and I can't find what tic means. Maybe its a typo? There wasn't a errata for the pattern. The pattern is "A gift of cheer prayer shawl". Thanks for any help.

Could it be tr c ? treble crochet.

I have Crocheting for Dummies and it's not in there.

I've never seen that either, but suspect it is an error, perhaps for trc instead which means treble crochet. Would that work in your pattern?

What row is that in? I have looked at the pattern on line and don't see a tic in the directions. Just in case there is more than one shawl with this name, is the designer Rochelle Johnson?

I went to the Leisure Arts site, hoping to find an errata page. They don't have one...

But, you could contact them -there is contact info on their website.

Hi Karen, yes its the A gift of cheer, Under body. row 4.

Row 4: Ch 3, turn; [work Shell in next Shell (ch-2 sp), ch 1] twice, (dc, ch 3, tic)
in next ch, (ch 1, work Shell in next Shell) twice, dc in last dc.

oh, i found it... I haven't found the solution yet but it's in Row 4 of the body

If it was not in the pattern stitch descriptions or gave specific directions how to perform a "tic" then its an error.

Ok, I bought the digital edition. I must have a error. I hope thats the only error. Where do you see the online version?

I have looked at every row 4 in the pattern. I don't see what you have written. But my thought is maybe it is "twice " misspelled. My row 4 under body says this

Thank you for that erratum--thought for a minute it was the way they were making the shells with a possible picot in between them.

I had a current Kindle version (I bought a couple days ago) and it still had the error. My guess is that someone had a typo, but dc instead of tic makes sense!

I believe tic should be a double crochet. Typo error.

It's in google books--I just googled a gift of cheer prayer shawl and there it was! Just go to google.books.com and where it asks about researching a topic, type in a gift of cheer prayer shawl for the pattern link.

Just an FYI: for patterns in old books, research them on google.books.com because this pattern was free there. I always believe that free is good if it is something I will use!!!
