I purled when I should have knit. It is on the edge and so instead of having the ridge, there is a section that lays flat, i.e. stocking stitch. Is there anyway to correct this without pulling everything out and doing over? I am about 20 rows past the mistake and really don't want to have to rip and do over.

As the mistake seems to be all garter stitch, be brave and unpull just those 6 stitches.
You will have a lot of loops dangling.
Then, picking up the last correctly done stitches, knit them towards the garment and with the rest of that loop, knit outwards.
Repeat until all is back to normal.
You might find a bit of a change of appearance but this can be overcome (when the work is finished) by picking up the 6th stitch with a sewing needle and pulling it gently until there is no apparent change in tension.

This method can also be used if a cable has been reversed some way down!
Drop the cables + 1 each side, and work upwards.
