I am hoping some one can go to this website
http://bing.search.sympatico.ca/?q=Iceland+Splash%20Felted%20Cloche%20hat&mkt=en-ca&setLang=en-CA
I started it using 2 strands but I can not see this in the pattern I guess I thought I made the duffer slippers with 2 this would take 2 also when I did the swatch with 2 it was right on now I am making a swatch with one strand I am afraid the one strand will not be have enough for a hat I
e mailed the designer but still haven't got an answer please help thank you

Cute hat! It definitely looks like it's supposed to be just one strand. I'm not sure what you mean that one strand won't be enough - are you talking about how thick it will be? It is going to be felted, which will make it more dense.

Yes I know that but when I made the duffers the first one which I made in a single strand was so flimsy because I was supposed to use 2 that make a lot of difference thank you for being so fast

If you look at the pattern carefully and read all the way through, It tells you to cast on with the Iceland, do 10 rows (I believe) and then to alternate bands of single yarn and then both yarns held together in the next band..... I'm assuming it is the red hat pictured? Felting should make the fabric quite a bit denser. It will feel flimsy when knitting though.....

Red hat? Are we looking at the same pattern? The one I see is more like purple or blue than red.

I agree that while knitting, it will seem unbelievably loose. The felting/shrinking will take care of that.

Jessica when I made the duffers the first one that I made with one strand after felting had no shape to it. But the one with two strands you could shape it.I am so afraid after making this hat it will not shape like the picture it might be to limp the trouble you can not tell until after you felt it

I'm not familiar with this wool, so I can't tell how bulky it is. When I've done felted hats, I either use one strand of very bulky wool or two strands of regular worsted weight. Felting will give you lots of body, but the double strands ensure it will hold its shape.
