Here is my problem. Row 10 size small says: k to first A marker, [m1-L, smA, m1-R]. Do I knit to the stitch before the market and start the m1, or do I knit right up to market, remove marker, start the first m1 then replace marker and finish with the m1-r.

I also find I am knitting the m1-r into the running stitch formed from the m1-L. I hope ths is right.

Here's how I'd read [m1-L, smA, m1-L]: You knit right up to the marker, make 1 left, slip marker A, make 1 left.

There should be no need to 'remove' the marker, but you can, as long as the marker goes back between the two newly made stitches.

Did you check for the errata on that pattern? I think there is one out for it and it may clarify your issue with the instructions!
GO to Sweater Babe and look for "errata". It takes you to a new page where it asks for the pattern number. I believe I downloaded something for that pattern.

Here are 2 sets of corrections that are posted on the Sweaterbabe site:
#141 Whispering Leaves Lace Top-Down Cardigan (corrected 8/29/12):

On page 7, the Raglan Inc rows for sizes M through 3X were slightly off. Please replace with this (parts in red changed):

Size M: 16; 18, 20, 22; 26, 28, 30; 34, 36, 38; 42, 44, 46; and 50 = 258 sts.
Size L: 16, 18; 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34; 38, 40, 42; 46, 48, 50, and 52 = 282 sts.
Size 1X: 16, 18, 20, 22, 24; 28, 30, 32; 36, 38, 40, 42; 46, 48, 50; 54 and 56 = 310 sts.
Size 2X: 16, 18, 20, 22, 24; 28, 30, 32; 36, 38, 40, 42; 46, 48, 50; 54, 56, and 58 = 342 sts.
Size 3X: 16, 18, 20, 22, 24; 28, 30, 32; 36, 38, 40, 42; 46, 48, 50; 54, 56, 58, and 60 = 370 sts

#141 Whispering Leaves Lace Top-Down Cardigan (corrected 7/25/12):
Bottom of page 6, Row 9 (9, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11): The last part of the row should be "p17 (19, 23, 25, 28, 31, 34) LEFT FRONT sts, " not "k".
Row 10 (10, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12): The 2 "smB"s that are in the next to last line of that row should be "pmB".

Hope this helps. Lori
