I was sitting down minding my own business, just measuring the back of a knitted cardigan, had one of the knitting needles resting in my mouth, leaned forward to get measuring tape AND wham pointed needle hit the roof of my mouth - its just stopped bleeding   cant believe I did that !!!

Oh no!!! Are you o.k.?
Ouch! Is it okay now. Trouble is the roof of the mouth bleeds a lot. How many times as a child were you told not to put sharp pointy things in your mouth!!!!

I shouldn't think there is a knitter who hasn't done this at some time. Best thing to do is have a stiff drink and lots of chocolate!!!
Oh thanks all, I am fine now, I have had some chocolate going to have the drink later
You definitely need some alcohol, for medicinal purposes
to cleanse the wound and kill the pain. You can't be too careful. Hope it doesn't hurt too much and if it does have another drink.

...and maybe a tetanus shot...
try some ice i am sure we have all been there not a good thing to do but its hard to remember not to put needles in your mouth it comes so natural
Ouch, brought tears to my eyes reading about your misadventure, hope it's not to painful now.
don't forget warm salt water to clean the area.
We've all been there and done that. Afterwards, you wonder how that happened! Poor baby!
Been there and done that. Hope you feel better soon xx
Oooo ouch. I do hope you are ok and on the mend.
... ive done that nasty before, so i stopped holding needle in mouth and have now resorted to holding needle in my hair/hair bun (like Chinese style hair sticks.) so this way, my needles wont hurt my mouth ever again or so they dont get lost down the side of my lounge... lol just remember needle is in hair, to avoid another booboo.
Same thing happened to me some time ago. I was busy knitting socks on four needles. One was in my mouth :-bumped it into my soft palate. It is because we didn't listen to our mothers telling us not to put the needles in our mouthes!
Owie. I have never done that. I don't think I ever put my needles in my mouth. It's a good reason not to start.
I agree about rinsing the wound. The alcoholic beverage isn't a bad idea. For a change you can swish and swallow your "mouthwash."
Hope you're not hurting to much. I always put one of my needles in my mouth. think it's a knitter's thing? Take care and be careful. ;)
Sounds like me on a regular basis...LOL. :D
Owwwww. Sounds like something I would do.
