Owie. I have never done that. I don't think I ever put my needles in my mouth. It's a good reason not to start.
I agree about rinsing the wound. The alcoholic beverage isn't a bad idea. For a change you can swish and swallow your "mouthwash."

How about one of the pocket things that hang over the arm of your chair or sofa? I have one that was intended for a book (or remote control). It works for needlework.

No. But sometimes they act like it.
