Welcome! What does your yarn separator look like?
Hi, Debbystitchknit, thanks for Greet...I will try to post a pic of it on the section for photos...I am new to site's procedures, but will give it a good try...
It has a wooden base made from 2x10 board, then has eye hooks to seperate the yarns, then they go up to a dowel spindle that I can wind each strand(s) seperately on it...I had him make a spindle from an old wooden knitting needle with a round top, then slide a round wood circle disc onto it, then another eye hook ontop of the needle....
First I have a purchased yarn winder, that I rewind the skein of yarn onto...then, I slide the re-wound yarn onto another dowel,
this 6"long dowel is abt. 1and 1 1/4" dia., and hb drilled a hole into the full length of it so I can slide the dowel with yarn onto the spindle, then I thread the yarn thru the eye hook in the top, then feed it thru the first large eyehook on the base of the seperator....then I separate the yarn about 14", and feed each seperate yarns into separate eyes, and tie each onto the turning bar, with handle....I set the unit onto edge of table, and let the spindle with yarn fall down infront, but not touching the floor....The spindle spins as I turn the bar handle at the top!---way cool!!!! ---I told hb he should patent this!!!--- works wonderful...and all I did is draw him a picture of what I wanted and he made it from scrap wood pieces he had from his wood works in his shop out back!!!----let me know what you think! (hope I can upload the pic okay...)
