I've just started the Holden Shawlette (have about 10 rows done) on the garter stitch edge should I have slipped the first stitch or does it make alot of difference - there is a bind off border.

I don't normally slip the first stitch of lace shawls. I find that it doesn't stretch and block out as large. The slipped stitch gives a very nice looking edge and I like to use it when knitting scarfs. I feel that it's a personal choice. If you like the look you are getting don't worry about it. As the knitter, you're allwoed to make any changes you want.

Can anyone help?

I want to do the Holden Shawlette. I have 304 yds of Ella Rae Lace Merino DK.

Has anyone made this with DK? Can I decrease the st stich rows and have enough yarn to complete the project? I don't mind if it is more of a neck scarf than a shoulder shawl.

Also, if you made it in DK...what needle size did you use?

I am in love with this pattern....but the yarn is so expensive....don't want to purchase another skein.

Any help would be appreciated.
