I had such good intentions of what and for whom I was going to knit. Now with re construction hand surgery hanging over my head (hand is currently in a cast) I know I will never get all the Christmas things done, so what to do, what to do.

I never before made hardly any Christmas gifts even though I quilted, cross stitched & hooked rugs. But now I am a 1 1/2 year knitter I've got 5 or 6 knitted and put away for Christmas. I make what I like, then try & figure out who in my family would like it. Scarves, cowls, hats & mittens. Nothing big.

I have made one afghan for my daughter, and am in the process of making her a red sweater that she asked for back in High school, she's now 43, I think it's about time. I measured her for it yesterday (simple raglan sleeve top down pullover with crew neck), and I have the yarn, so I will start it as soon as I finish her daughter's sweater. Also have another afghan and matching pillows to both to get done. It's still only May I have plenty of time.

I knitted and crocheted things for kids and grandkids for the last 2 years, so this year its "me" time. Trying to figure out what I want to make for myself first is becoming a problem as I have yarn for sweaters and a jacket, still flipping that mental coin.

Too busy getting ready to move. Next month I'll be able to think about knitting anything. But not now.

I used to start knitting for the next Christmas on Dec. 26th. No longer doing that. Family has gotten smaller in a way. I knit for the grandsons during the year. Don't have anyone who doesn't "react" to wool, so, it's the "aisle of acrylic and cotton" for me. Kids would rather have cash and/or gift cards. It's always the right color, but no always large enough. When my 2 daughter-in-laws see something they like, they bring me a picture and I adapt it. Grandsons like picking out their own patterns too. Hard to tell what the are "in to" at the time -- they are almost 5 and 7. I only use the "nice stuff" yarn that requires any knowledge of care for me. hehe
