What does it mean when it says to turn at the end of a row. You're already going to turn anyway to knit or purl the next row, aren't you?

Thanks for your help--this pattern is for some socks. It says:
First row2, P2 tog, P 1, turn, sl 1, K3, turn
Next row: Knit


I just knit the next row and disregarded that last turn. It doesn't look so good, so I think I goofed!
