hope that this is posted in the correct place, saw this shawl on 'Pickles" a free pattern,
went to read it, & "whaaaaat" i don't get it at all,
it's a lovely shawl, i would love to make for my charity knitting, but i just don't get it???
should i just move on to something else???
#2 Q. my son spilled pomegranate juice on the keyboard, no its like typing with the "old typewriters" where you really have to press down & the keys stick, i did wash it under hot water, let it dry for 24 hrs, put the batteries back in, it works, but it is still super sticky,,, any ideas? please?

It's a two-row repeat, but - a very important BUT - at the bottom of the page you are instructed to "REMEMBER to make 6 stitches on at the end of the row. The first two and last two extra stitches makes another sunrise on your next row."
The designer's first language is obviously not English. What she's saying is to cast on six stitches at the end of each row. That is what gives it the 'growth' from an 8-stitch cast-on to a trianglular shawl.

You washed the keyboard?? You're braver than I!
I just keep all non-diet drinks far, far away from keyboards. Good luck with that!

Reading through the pattern made my brain hurt. Thank you Jessica-Jean for the explanation, but I still don't get it. I already have so many shawl patterns on my "to-do" list (mostly Dee O'Keefe's), I think I'll skip this one even though I do think it is a very pretty shawl.
