Ok, I looked up how to do an I cord. Seems simple enough but this is the border for a scarf. Do I make the scarf and add an I -cord or is there a way to make the I cord part of the scarf. Pattern says it is a two stitch I cord.

Any help from you old pros would be appreciated.

If I want an I-cord edge, I try to put it on at the CO and pick up sts at the BO and work around to the beginning.
Does nicely on afghans and shawls when I want a strong, but stretchy edge.

It is very simple to use an i-cord as a cast on or cast off. It creates a nice corded edge.

Here is a link to a video:

It's slow going because you're knitting 4 stitches for each cast on or cast off stitch, but it's really simple once you get the hang of it.
