I have an extremely large cat that I would like to take outside and our town has VERY steep fines for unrestrained pets. ($120). Peaches is much too larve for any commercially made cat harness and she steps right out of dog harnesses even when they fit. So I need to knit her one. I rather like that idea anyway as she could have different "outfits." Could someone tell me how to knit one or help me find a pattern, please?

I think you town's rule-makers have never had a cat! I have yet to see any healthy cat that cannot wriggle out of any harness yet devised by man. May your cat behave and wear his harness peacefully!

I would like to see our poop-n-scoop by-law enforced, but that will happen as soon as all the potholes are filled/patched. :)

While I would love to take my cats out on a harness, I keep them strictly indoors. Besides the possibility of escape from a harness, there is the too real possibility of bringing home a flea or two. Having had flea infestations while my cats were indoor-outdoor cats (former home, quiet area), I am just not willing to risk that ever again. These two cats haven't ever been outdoors since earliest kittenhood - before they came to my home.

What a neat idea!!!! We have a very large Siamese we had the same problem :-( :-( Our 3 kitties have a harness and we have small dog leashes. We had one of our babies hit and killed by a car so they are not allowed out without the harnesses and a leash and one of us. They love to be outside so they only get to go out that way. We have never had one get out of their harness but never thought of knitting one. I will do this next time I need a new harness. Thanks so much.
