Good morning! I have quite a few skeins of pure Icelandic Wool from a friend. It is quite old but I thought it would still be okay to use for something. I was even thinking of attempting a sweater of some kind. Well when I checked it closer this morning I find that it pulls apart very, very easily. It seems to be double stranded but if you gently pull on it it comes apart! Is Icelandic Wood supposed to do this? I'm thinking it has "gone bad" altho I don't think that is the case considering other posts I have read about how long to keep yarn. (I have wool from my mother that is over 70 years old and is just fine.) So. KP experts, what do you think? As a last resort I was thinking of making felted clogs with this. It seems a shame to waste it since like I said I have quite a few skeins of it. My friend originally bought it with a pattern and the hopes of making an Icelandic sweater! It is made in Iceland by Lopi S.F., 100% Iceland Wool, 100g/3-1/2 oz,"Cross Country." And now it sits. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks so much to you all. You always come through. Happy Needling. jb

It is very delicate. I had some passed on to me, and knowing it would felt beautifully, I knitted and felted a bag.
If felting, though, you have to watch it very carefully in the felting process because it felts very quickly.

This was my experience with the yarn, too.
