Okay . . . I have worked Sockittome's socks pattern to the heel, and have gotten to the point of picking up stitches for heel gusset. I see the picture clearly, and read to pick up the stiches "in the ditch", but can't quite see what I am to do . . . too many stitches left to pick up.
I know I am missing something easy, but have looked at it over and over.
And suggestions?

I have been using his pattern for awhile now. There should be 2 stitches to pick up then one that is kinda a tight knot you skip this and go to next two stitches, I just try to space them out till I get 15 picked up and then the gusset stitch. I thought the ditch was the one you can't pick up easily. I hope this helps

I used the word "ditch" because you are picking up the stitches in the SPACE BETWEEN the last two sts on each side of the heel flap. That is why you do not slip first sts in this pattern. When your stitches are picked up you will see that the first and last sts of the heel flap end up in a neat line on the INSIDE of the sock. Hope this helps! :)
