Just bought the Paperwhite and I like it. I was using one of the first Kindles with toggle buttons and a built in keyboard. This is much better.

I have the paper white as well. The great advantage of a kindle, you can read it outside in full sunshine ! Something the ipad lacks.

I have the kindle fire HD. I get alot of different patterns from knitting, crocheting to cross stitching. I also get the history channel, a&e, Netflix, and a lot of free movies, tv shows and from Amazon prime. You will really enjoy it. I use my kindle all the time since my lap top has been taken over by my other half since his died. Good luck

How do you get the history channel and A & E? Are they free?

I have the Kindle Paperwhite also. I lost my original Kindle and was able to transfer my books over. These two are only readers, which is my preference. The Fire has the internet connection.

I have had a Kindle, in ever newer versions, almost from its inception. I recommend the Kindle Fire, preferably HD. Bought GD the HD for her birthday and it is lighter and better than my plain ol' Fire.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I LOVE it. I use it only for reading. I can get books from my local library delivered to it and of course I buy books. I have a work tablet (Samsung) which I sometimes use for patterns (not often...work is work and when off I don't like to use the same equipment for personal use...it's like drawing a line between the two for me.) I may buy the Fire in the future. Even if I do I will continue to use my paperwhite. I think the question you have ask yourself is what is your reason for getting a Kindle...if it is to read and you want to lock out the rest of the work...get the paperwhite. If you want movies etc...go for the Fire. Hope that helps.
