Joy Marshall's - You just turn your knitting around as if to start the next row and cast it on there.

Yarn Happy's - You do a knitted or cable cast on.

Joy Marshall's instructions would be step one, step two would be Yarn Happy's possibles. Hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

Knit into the last stitch, put the loop you pulled through onto the left needle, then knit into that loop and put that stitch onto the needle until you have as many as you need.
