I loved this sweater as soon as i seen it and couldnt wait to start it. I think it took me a couple of evenings to do. It was so easy to do. I just have to wait till there's some little girl to give it to. Here's the pattern site.

Size depends on the type of yarn and needles you use. Pattern calls for 4-ply worsted weight and sz 10 (if I remember correctly) needles to fit 3- 6 months.

I've made dozens using baby yarns and size 8 needles that end up fitting 0-3 months. Baby yarn and even smaller needles can easily get you to a newborn or even preemie size.

Note: You can totally eliminate seams if you use double-pointed or circular needles for the sleeves.

This is darling, and I started it as soon as I saw it yesterday. I do have a question, though. I am not a crochet-er, and I am not sure how to "slip stitch the sleeve closed". Can any one give me any pointers, or steer me to a video that will show this?

Thanks for your help! Cathy

Thank you so very much for this tip... I was wondering as I was reading what sizes to use for newborn size.

I am looking forward to Sheila's top-down sweater pattern.

On another forum, there is a free pattern for a blanket (afghan?) knit in stockinette,---a map of the USA.

Lions Brand Pattern # 80046 very colorful. Look and see.

oh, girl you have one big job, LOL, I only work on things I can enter in our county fair, and they have to be suitable for gifts after the fair.
AND sometimes I get requests, Like the crocheted sweater, I make most of those with out a pattern, the sweater is made with Cherry Red Luster Shyne. I have a large flower in the shoulder area, then there will be a plain front, with smaller flowers all along the edge,,I am about 1/2 done, just waiting for a fitting so I can continue. I made one for her before, it was to small, so this one has an easy way to add inches, I like it I hope she does.
I brougggght it to church, but she wasn't there, others saw it and they couldn't see where I had squared it after the round flower, so I had to square it on a pew, they they could see there were corner worked into the pattern to make it fit as a sweater.
