This pattern was a single page handout from the Super Yarn Mart that went out of business over 30 years ago. There is no name or copyright on the pattern, so I am happy to share it with all of you.
HAREM SLIPPERS:
Materials: 2 ounces of 4-ply knitting worsted or 4-ply Orlon
#8 US needles
2 packages of bangles (shiny metallic round discs with a hole near the edge)
Before casting on, string the bangles onto your yarn.
Cast on 3 stitches.
Row 1: Knit 1, slip bangle up close to work, Knit 2 stitches.
Row 2: Knit. Increase in first and last stitch. (Increase by knitting in the front and back of the same stitch).
Row 3: Knit 1, *slip bangle up close to work, Knit 2 stitches. Repeat from * across row.
Row 4: Knit. Increasing one stitch in first and last stitch.
Continue last 2 rows to Row 20 (10 bangles on Row 20). Discontinue bangles from Row 21 on. Continue to knit, increasing in the first and last stitches, on the even rows only until there are 53 stitches on the needle.
Then start to decrease (knit 2 together) on the first and last stitches, on even rows only until you have 11 stitches on the needle.
DO NOT BIND OFF. Cut a long 24-inch strand of this yarn. Thread the end onto a tapestry needle and transfer the 11 stitches from the knitting needle onto the tapestry needle. Draw up the 11 stitches and knot securely (for the toe). Fold into a triangle, with bangles on the outside and at the top. From the toe, sew the bottom of the foot and up 11 ridges on the back of the slipper.
Turn right-side-out and fold the bangle "triangle" down over the top of the slipper.
Note: Size was not given on this pattern. However, I have made over 50 of these slippers, using different sized needles. Size #8 needle fits women with shoe size 6-9. #5 needles will fit an older child. #3 needles will fit a small child.
