looks like an amazing project to get involved with! I might give it a go! Why not get involved
Calling all knitters, crochet enthusiasts and crafters, Hampshire’s very own historic Watercress Line Heritage Railway needs you!
To celebrate ‘Love your Railway 2022’ we are inviting people across the country to help the Heritage railway to create a fleet of mini trains and engines inspired by our historic collection, stations and communities that the Watercress Line served and continues to connect to today!
We are inviting people to help us create a 3D yarnscape scene depicting the stations and communities along the line and if you live locally or have a connection to the line we want to hear from you!
We want to capture memories from people who knew the railway during its operating years carrying passengers and from the times it was carrying watercress from Winchester to London and also through the early preservation years from the 1970s onwards if you have a memory, connection to the line, stations such as Alresford, Four Marks, Ropley and Alton or community then get in touch by emailing [email protected]
These memories will be displayed alongside the yarnscape in September.
If you would like to take part please email [email protected] to request a copy of the suggested pattern.
You are welcome to use other patterns as well to help us create the scenery, stations, passengers and other items. Closing date for submissions is the 1st August 2022.
Please see details here of our current collection of trains which you might like to base your piece on https://watercressline.co.uk/steam-locomotives/
To help us fill the yarnscape screen panels which measure 1 metre high by 1m wide the following are needed to help create the scenes that the trains go through
Knitted trees
Passengers
Clouds
Sun
Hills
Grass

Track
