knitting for nursing homes, veterans, or those just cold

I have found that making regular size leg warmers, short leg warmers, and wrist warmers are wonderful gifts for those that are not active and are cold from whatever reason. The area I have my computer is very cold during the winter and I wear both of them and it is amazing how warm I feel. I suggest a ribbing pattern to fit many sizes of ankles and wrists. Fingerless mittens would be okay if the person is able to roll them back for eating, personal care, etc. I am 67, been a heath aide, licensed nurse and have cared for those in need. I really think this would work out well. I volunteer at an assisted living program and do knitting with others. I am going to suggest this as a possible project for the future.
