hi, I have four adorable bearded dragons and I would love to knit something for them after seeing all these pinterest pictures. However, I have a hard time finding patterns. Anyone has any lead? Also what yarn would ppl recommend to use for this kind of project?

for those who don't know what bearded dragon is, here is a youtube video for you: )
they have cute dog-like behavior and are very affectionate...they just can't understand commands ; (

Does a cold-blooded animal realy need sweater or do you want them to look cute? Cute - go hats, as wild as you can do.

I would recommend *** that you use a fingerling yarn weight or sport weight yarn (or even better, one of those crochet yarn thread cakes in #300, which is so thin that it is almost thread thread)...
Then I would suggest that you measure your bearded..and use the measurements to make your own whatever..
Example: measure from:
1) Neck between shoulders back down to its back legs: A
2) Circumference/Around at its widest point/add a quarter or half inch as it will need space for movability and comfort: B
3) Circumference/Around the widest point of its head/would need to slip passed/over this point: C

And use those measurements to design a simple garment. Casting on however wide or long a garment you need to make based on those measurements, and then just use a simple Knit and Purl repeat to keep it simple...until you've made your 1st basic to get the feel of it. After you finish the 1st garment then you'll be ready to tackle a 2nd fancier (& will know if it will fit or if your measurements or even what & where you measure are accurate or require adjusting.)

*** That you be very careful, as your dragon could certainly snag its claws on whatever you create, and definitely would snag itself on whatever else is in its habitat..and do NOT EVER leave it wearing whatever unattended, as it could injure itself, get hung up, possibly get choked, etc.

Good Luck!!

UPDATE: Corrected typos...&..Never had a bearded, but did have a Savanah Monitor

They also get pissed when their person goes to college and leaves them home. GD's beardie went into a sort of decline. Sorry, no help for a pattern.

Actually because they are cold-blooded, they get cold easily. This is why they like sunny spots and heat lamps. (as to whether it needs a sweater, no idea)

We only found out our beardie was a girl when she layed eggs. Surprise, Carlos you are a girl!
As far as knitting for one, you could knit a hammock for her. Just knit a triangle and attach it with suction cups to the sides of the tank. I know some like hanging in them.

Wow, gonna try this for my gd's 2 lizards. Thanks.

My son has a sweet beardy named Mollis. He is sadly looking to re-home her as he has a new job with long hours and feels he won't have time to care for her the way she deserves. It makes me sad too. She is a sweetheart.

Good luck! Just when you think you have heard/seen it all.....send pictures when you get their outfits put together!

I just watched the YouTube video. Oh my goodness, what an utterly adorable creature! Totally irresistible! Thanks for posting. Have you Googled "sweaters for bearded dragons"?

I think the hammock would be a good idea.
The dragons have little scales/bumps down each side of their body, so any knitted clothes may irritate or annoy them.

I don't know about clothes but my grandgirl's beardie doesn't seem to mind the halter for her leash. Or maybe she just connects it with going somewhere so doesn't complain. I don't know.
