Just wondering if anyone has tried crocheting seams in knitting instead of sewing them up. One pattern I was following suggested this method and I've used it ever since.
Makes a lovely neat seam and, I think, is a lot easier than sewing.

I have not done this but I would think it would be easiest to crochet than knit seams. In my local yarn store the lady there did that with a baby blanket. It looked very nice and stated it goes quick.

If it's a project that you are ok with a visible ridge for a seam that would work well, but if you want a flatter, less visible seam, then mattress stitch would be a good option

I'd never tried it before but I like the way the seam looks so neat and is not bulky. I hate sewing up anyway but this method is so easy (just slip stitch along the seam) and quick.

I really love doing seams this way. It is especially helpful if you are working with a bulky project. It is easier to crochet the seams than to sew them, less stress on the hands and holds up better.

Either way (knit or crochet) it's nice to know there is an alternative to hand sewing!!

I agree with West Coast Kitty--crocheted seams can be awfully thick. And Kiwi Annie, tell us how you "knit" seams together. I've been knitting for fifty years and never figured that one out!

There are more professional seaming methods that are probably on You Tube including the in in invisible seam and the three needle bind off, among others, in my opinion.

the 3-needle bind off is a knitted seam and has some bulk similar to a crochet seam. sometimes you want that ridge type detail as in afghans or sweaters that want a funky look.

I think that the three needle bindoff is good for shoulder seams that need strength.
