Is this an aran or cabled pattern. It sounds like you would slip 2 stitches on to right needle , put 2 stitches on a cable holder, slip the two stitches back to the left needle and then knit off the cable holder and then the left needle. that would cross 2 stitches over to the right. the opposite would occur if you put 2 stitches on the cable holder, knit 2stitches from the left needle, then knit the 2 stitches off the cable needle. Usually the pattern state whether to hold the stitches in front or back of the needle hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!
