I had to work out how to start a topic on the new format- don't think I have done it yet.
Kate is in England with her whole family in a very large house for a few days- celebrating her 70th birthday.
Should be about 1pm EST (well about 4am EST in Australia!) but as I am heading to bed now I don't anticipate being up to post for a while so here is this weeks new Tea Party. Half way through March already!

Summary of Friday 10th March, 2023 by Darowil

The summary and following lists are a summary of last week's Tea Party and are of more value to the regulars here unable to keep up with all the chatter than to newbies - who are very welcome to join us at any time just by speaking up and making yourself known. All the pages etc refer to last week’s Tea Party Knitting Tea Party, Friday 10th March, 2023

Sassafras’s DGD has been accepted into Notre Dame Law School.

Jazzy’s DH and his brother are working hard on getting their father’s house ready to sell-hope to have it on the market early next week- and then He will be able to return home and stay put. The funeral was this morning so probably finshed by now

Pearl Girls DH has had 3 teeth removed- and He already seems brighter.

Swedenme’s sinuses have been playing up for about a week and seem to be finally settling

It is almost 3p.m. here in Maine, so Darowil posted around 2 p.m.
I finally caught up on KP, still in my PJs. Just finished making and receiving many phone calls. Not much accomplished.
I need to hurry and finish my March postcards as March will be over soon. I want to get them in the mail today so that I only have to drive up once.

Kate, great job you have done, much better than I could ever do. Happy St. Paddy's day to everyone that celebrates. I wore my green sweater to exercise class today and got more compliments than I even expected. I knitted it a few years ago and those people in the class seemed to be surprised that I knitted it.
I was torn between whether to wear green for St Patricks day or wearing red for remembering everyone deployed. It was a very hard decision for me today. . . I finally decided. . . :ROFLMAO: I stayed in my P.J.s all day instead. They are turquoise and white striped. I feel so much better not making the decision. . .now I am ready for bed time when it rolls around. LOL!
Thanks ladies for starting the new week. I hope the Birthday girl is enjoying every minute and second of her 4 day "advance".

Good night all. Page 2. . . another successful day and walked almost 17,000 steps. I haven't been in the zone lately, so, I'll catch up to average. I do everything in Binges as when I get on a roll, I want to keep going. My hundred day project has had 25 days roll by and haven't done any thing there for over a week as I have 69/100 already done.

Thank you, but it’s not an ”advance” it’s a ”retreat”(?) as my big birthday was last September. 🤣🤣
I just don't like the word retreat as I never have time to "retreat" and start over. I mostly use advance as it is moving forward with boldness. Your next Birthday celebration will be here sooner than a year. :ROFLMAO:

Looks like a beautiful outing, glad the bridge faeries helped crossing safely.
Did you say you took a car over it? or you walked over? Bad thing is if you have to come back over it?
I thank you for the photos but will never be there or on it in any lifetime. :ROFLMAO: Nice photos !
DH finds those work really well too.
I wouldn't leave home without them. I have plenty at home also. It never used to be a problem and now it is most always a problem, no matter what I eat.

Fan, me too. Last night I noticed when I was rubbing my ring finger (for whatever reason just watching The White Lotus, season 2) it went kind of tingly. I had that happen once before and I found a deep bruise in that spot. Well, in the night, pain woke me up when I turned and touched the bed with that finger. It looks a little bruised on the top side at the very bottom where it meets the rest of the hand. I remember the other time, it was like a bruised nerve and I got over it after a bit. But this is hanging on today. I can make a fist now, and knit...albeit more slowly....but shoot, I cannot figure out what I did to it. Maybe buy some Epsom salts tomorrow if it is still a bother, and soak it.
Anyone else have odd thing like this?
If I sit for any time, my blood vessels itch. Odd things happen all the time to me. There is no consistency so I figure "no problem" How does one describe things that come and go? You only think about it when it comes. When I am exhausted in late afternoon, I take 2 Tylenol and it often acts like a shot of adrenaline and I don't need to sleep. Amazing how chronic pain catches up with oneself.
I left my van out yesterday so that I could get at things in the garage. I threw out a few things with the trash yesterday. Today I found a white plant pot with attached saucer and transplanted my aloe plant to the larger pot with potting soil. Maybe it will grow and not just keep breaking a part if I touch it. I know that they need neglect. I guess I'm not neglectful enough.
Today David is barely eating. . . I think it must be backing up again so will do what I was told to do and see what morning brings. If things work, I won't be able to help personaly much tomorrow. David will need me.
I am baking beans overnight in the Instant Pot. New England Baked Beans will be the special at the Community Breakfast tomorrow. The last 2 weeks they have had pancakes and French toast because I took in 1 1/2 gallon of real maple syrup. Most people don't see a need. They only do things when requested. One has to join and reach out if they want this community outreach to be profitable. One anothering is a natural for me.
There was a white out snow squall this morning, not much left behind. It was partly cloudy all day yet 45. Cold at night and warm days is good for SAP runs. Maple Sunday is a week away.
My GD's basketball team won trophies at the playoffs. It has been 3 days every weekend in March. She turned 12 on Friday and even her Birthday was put on hold for basketball playoffs. She sounded exhausted as there is an hour and a half drive both ways, sometimes longer. I caught up with her on one of the rides to sing 3 Happy Birthday singing "telegrams" to her before a game on Friday.

I need to go set the beans to cook and a few other things before bed and early rise tomorrow to serve at the breakfast.
2 mof us got blasted for bussing tables in between serving. No one wants to sit around with a pile of dirty dishes stacked in front of them. Many, if cleared will sit and converse with another cup of coffee. That is one of the goals many of these men are single and hang out like they used to do at the local coffee shop that is not open on Mondays.
We decided it is the bosses job this week as the regular girls that do it are away. She'll stop complaining if we ask her to bus tables for us as it is very busy. :ROFLMAO: We all love our volunteer jobs, just not liking criticism when we are doing our best and others are standing around or sitting around chatting.. The boss has softened a little around the edges as she was so gruff, no one wanted to be under her. Now she admits everyone can only do there best and everyone makes mistakes even her. We all get along well when we remember that we are human and even share a joke or two and a laugh now and then.

Finished this little set not too thrilled with it as when pressing it, it stretched a lot.
‘And of course the wonky cable stitch lol! View attachment 1287138

Just got caught up. Wanted to thank everyone for the comments about the sutures. I passed them on to DH, who is very appreciative. He is looking forward to getting them out and will then start occupational therapy. We’re trying to set up the appointments now.

Sonja, I absolutely could not go across that bridge. But loved seeing a photo! And so nice of you to share your patterns.

Jazzy, That is a very nice shawl. It will surely be a comfort to the person who receives it.

Mindy, Sorry to hear about your brother. Hope he will adjust to the new medicine and you will be able to enjoy your chats. Talking about shared memories might be a comfort to him.

Tami, Have enjoyed hearing about your travels. You are really seeing some interesting places.

Gwen, DH had radiation treatment for prostate cancer and is doing fine so far. Hope your DH will have the same experience.

Maatje, I can’t remember the brand, but I think there is something over the counter you can get to help dogs with gastric upsets. Your vet can tell you, I’m sure. Maybe a change in diet would also help---think there are brands of dog food for dogs with sensitive stomachs.

Strawberry/Sharon, Belated happy birthday! Hope it marks the start of a great year.

Fan, Love the gray outfit with the cute buttons. It looks great!

Pearl’s Girls, Hope things are going as well as possible with your DH. So nice of you to help with the breakfasts.

Kate, Lovely photos of your outing. What a great birthday celebration. I have heard the term "manse" used here.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things, but will try to do a better job of keeping up. Oh yes---DD got out the Peter Rabbit jack-in-a-box toy which we gave to DGD for Easter last year. She calls it the “surprise bunny”---which I though was a pretty good description!
Manse here is usually used for the house belonging to the church and where the minister/pastor lives.
We lived in the "Manse" for 35 years only the Baptist church called it a "Parsonage". The Catholic and Methodist Churches in our area called it a "Manse".

I was up late last night reading and up early this morning to serve at the breakfast. I came home and fed David a large bowl of cereal and fruit as he had made room in his system for it. I sat around reading and cleaning out a little.
I need to fill the Pink Salt Grinder, the flax seed container, bathroom with TP, fold and put away laundry, just humdrum activities that all seem empty at the same time. I did some reading as I was too tired to do important stuff.
I then fell asleep between 4 & 7. I couldn't manage any longer on 4 hours sleep. I hope that tomorrow is much better as I have some things that I want to do. Sunday afternoon, I wasted time learning how to do 10 new Zentangles. It is relaxing. Some of the stress might have had to do with care for David. . . I didn't want to do what I was going to have to do. . ..
He is mostly sleeping today. He ate his cereal in the morning but didn't want to eat lunch. . .he prefered sleeping.
I finally fed him shepherd's pie minus veggies and some broccoli. He is drinking, but not wetting much.
It is now midnight and I just have my evening snack. I need to take food with my night meds or they send me wacky, so I have a bowl of rice with fruit and yogurt. That should take care of the meds and help me sleep better. See you all on the other side of dark. Hoping for a sunny day. p.21

The fish -- it's not as bad as I expected and it's NOT a stuffed pike.😅
That is a nice piece of glass art. Is it blown or cast? That is a nice conversation piece. Your DH was the winner in this gifting. I wouldn't want a taxidermist fish in the house or any other stuffed "thing". . . creepy!

I slept in today, not by design, but by need. I didn't eat breakfast until just before 4. I have been going to go to pharmacy and grocery store for over a week. I finally got there between 6-7. There was hardly anyone there.. I did forget to get the electrolyte drink for David but did get more probiotics and the pharmacist gave me 2 syringes to try flushing the tooth hole out with, and a cap nthat goes on a bottle to try sucking the extra water out with. I should be all set, if not, he told me to come back. He told me he had one taken this week and was having similar problems.
I am a little discouraged as they have found out nothing and he is taking in less. Perhaps things are just wearing out and shutting down, maybe not. I don't know what to think. I am doing my best. He has had the best caregiving around even if the medical profession has basically ignored him for 4 years.
They sent him home at the beginning with "He is old and has dementia". That told me right then that they didn't care to find out what was wrong and caused the paralysis or how to treat him in that condition. I think of Joni Erikson Tada, she has been a quad since seventeen in a shallow diving accident. She has overcome breast Cancer and is now 73. She does not have Aphasia, but she did not have a botched biopsy to send her septic and loose portions of her brain power. The Dr that did that to my DH was not concerned either.
Life is not equal, but GOD is still good and holds us close.
Sorry for the rant. I'm good and carrying on with God's help. Follow up with Gastroenterologist is tomorrow and I'm not sure what to ask.

On a brighter note my 100 day project of walking is not going well when I get little sleep. I can accept that and not worried as days when I'm rested I go over my 10,000 steps.
Today I'm way under. My new 100 day project is going well but not faithful everyday. I did 24 days worth today. :ROFLMAO:
I have finished 83 of my 100 day project. What can I say? When I get on a roll, I really get on a roll. LOL

Well, we are home and thank goodness I put stew in the crockpot to cook, so yummy. We went to Glendo State Park and did a 6 hour hike, we started down at the wetlands area and then hiked up to the rim taking feather rim trail, and then hit rattlesnake to raptor to the bridge and then the walk back down the road to the car. Much better hike than last week, though there was some deep snow in spots, some mud in spots, and some ice in spots, but still much better than last week, David will post a short video of parts of it, I'll post a couple pictures, but I only took a couple. I kept up with David pretty good, he hit the ground 2x on mud, and I hit it once on ice, lol, it was a slow land on my butt/backpack, then I just slid myself down to a flatter spot to get up. 🤣 I got wet, but David got a muddy butt. LOL
Are you following paths this time or just hiking trying to see if you don't get lost? David needs to be more considerate and not sit in so much mud. Does he realize that you do all the laundry. LOL Does he help? It must be miserable to have a wet butt and still need to keep going? I guess I am a walker but not a hiker:ROFLMAO:. I do most of my walking inside my house also so don't get too dirty that way. I get dirty by trying to sit in the recliner next to my David's bed, I spill all over myself:ROFLMAO: Good thing that I do all the laundry. I have laundry most everyday. I wish that I had an outside line but, it all goes into the dryer. My house isin the middle of a hill so everything would drag in the dirt if the birds didn't drop berry poop all over them.:ROFLMAO:
