good morning. Not as cold as other mornings. 7:30 and 22*. But looks like the sun will shine today so should be a wonderful day. I have no where to go or be today. Yay! I suppose I could work outside but I’m not going to rake any more leaves…. I’m afraid at this point will also rake up too much of the bark. So the rest of the leaves will need to decay and provide mulch. Angela, sounds like your day was perfect! And a well informed guide is a godsend. 2 hours sounds just long enough. At least that’s my limit…anything after that my brain goes into overload and doesn’t take any else in. Strawberry Sharon, those machines are wonderful. My mom had a similar old one when we immigrated. She traded it in for a new singer machine….that was back when singer was still a good name. One of my DD’s now has that machine and it still works very well. I hope you will follow the advice of the others here regarding your shoulder surgery. Wishing you a good outcome. I must update you on my little grandson who had his food stolen at school. He is doing so much better and the reading has now definitely clicked! As has the spelling. Everyone is thrilled for him. Bonnie, I hope you ds has his truck fixed soon. I can imagine that’s a tricky job. And I sure hope the mechanics place coughs up the deductible. Otherwise like mentioned, maybe a small claims court and lots of free advertising on your sons part. Well, I’m going to get going. Hope y’all have a good day or night.
I’m glad your GS is doing so much better

I remember back in the 60s, which must have been about when electric sewing machines were becoming popular, we used to go to a restaurant where all the tables were the old treadle machine tables. Don’t know what they did with all those old machines, probably just threw them out, then put in a piece of wood to fill the hole. You could treadle away whilst waiting for your food to arrive!
My friend & her DH built an “ old town” village on their farm & in their cafe & store he made tables like that. Sadly they split up & the village was disassembled & sold off

I heard from my son and someone broke his car window took his fuse box out of his dash and then stole his car ramps. The ramps are how he makes his money by hauling cars. He said he could have cried. He has had one thing after another going wrong for him. I pray all the time for things to turn around for him and then this happens. I'm sick to death about all that has happened to him. David won't let him come over because with his dog Ozzy Ozzy is the sweetest but big dog, he is well behaved so it limits Bobbys visits because Bobby doesn't like leaving Ozzy alone too long. He takes Ozzy everywhere with him. Bobby never married so Ozzy is like his child he has always showed him so much loved when he lived in Memphis,TN. and he had no family there when his sister and family moved. Enough on this. Hope everyone is having a good day love to you all. I have to go my shoulder is bad even to type.

I’m late joining in this evening but at least I’m here, lol!
Thank you ladies for another week, yikes they sure are flying by.
Ventured out later this morning to buy a couple of little things for Christmas decorating. The weekend is supposed to be snowing, which will make traffic a nightmare. I’m staying inside and won’t be going out until Monday. I’ve been invited to a lunch at a neighbours, we will be celebrating 3 November birthdays. Plans may change as Rose’s uncle passed away and she has invited a couple to stay overnight, so that they can attended the funeral on Tuesday. She will let us know on Sunday if she has to postpone.
Then Tuesday off to another luncheon with a group of ladies that most I haven’t met. Hopefully they are all lovely woman, at least I know 2 of my neighbours are going and I’m going to offer to drive. This way I can be excused from drinking a glass of wine as I’d be the designated driver, lol! I’m not fussy on wine at noon as it does make me sleepy sometimes, lol!
I’ll try to remember to take a photo of 3 little Christmas balls I bought. They’re clear glass with white pine trees and a deer inside, plus they are battery operated which blows the snow around inside. Oh I just HAD to buy these, lol! Just hope they work!
TTYL
Have fun at your luncheon and hope you have met more friends.

Wow lucky you the old machines are really sturdy and great if they still work.
‘I have my grandmothers old Unity machine you turn the handle to work it, not electric. I learned to sew on it.
An antique I think.
Oh yes, it is, I think that is 1920 something or earlier. one of my friends as a child had a Trendle Singer sewing machine, you get a workout while you sew, lol.

My story telling mind is on form again so here goes folks.
A Tomten feast for Christmas
I knew it was too much to ask theTomten to behave and I’m not wrong on that assumption.
I’ve had to employ the services of Gnome Patrol to investigate some rather pungent odours coming from yonder staircase where they’re all gathered for the holidays.
‘It turns out that overnight there has been some pre Christmas cooking going on.
‘Each lady Tomten has brought along a traditional or favourite dish for the festive season and to welcome newcomers Scarlett and Rufus Reddington.
‘They’re a side shoot of the agricultural garden gnome family.
‘All may seem innocent but on inquiry gnome patrol have discovered their true intentions.
‘They want to sample the strawberry liqueur and party party party, leaving none to be delivered across the street where the Reddingtons are headed.
As for the strong odours, Kristina has brought Lutefisk and Swedish meatballs. That is quite a heady aroma from the Lutefisk, not for delicate stomachs I feel.
‘Poppy has brought herb cookies and rhubarb icecream. Am quite suspicious of what she terms herb, as it smells rather like a certain ‘’weed’’ which is a worry.
‘Catriona has made clootie dump and cranachan, liberally bathed in whiskey. That is quite acceptable I think?
And finally from Clodagh we have plum pudding and roast pork, yum
This is just from the ladies, I am left wondering what the fellas have concealed in the secret cupboard under the staircase.
‘Oh my, it’s going to be a troubled 5 weeks until Christmas at this date I can see.
‘As for the dress changes, I’m not committing to anything just yet.

We very seldom eat dessert but tonight I had a craving for something sweet so I made this apple dessert. I thought I would share the recipe because it's fast, economical and light. No idea what to call it but I've had the recipe since the mid 70s.

2/3 cup white sugar
1 cup apple, peeled, cored and diced (I just use the whole apple) NOTE: use a good cooking apple like MacIntosh
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Combine the apple and sugar in a bowl with a spatula until sugar is moist. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients and add to the apple mixture, fold in chopped nuts. Spread in a greased 9" pie plate, bake 30 minutes at 350°F. Serve warm or room temp.

I've made this successfully with Robin Hood gluten free flour if you need to substitute.

You certainly stirred the pot when you introduced the newcomers 😅 Now they have a good excuse to party and get into mischief. Hope the strawberry liqueur is well hidden under lock and key because who knows what will happen if Wee Willie gets into it and starts handing out strawberry shooters. The ladies might be better behaved but that will probably only last until they get their new lacy knickers out of you. And are you sure of the gnomes' loyalty? They could become turncoats for a plate of Christmas goodies, they're not really known for their morals. A lot can happen in five weeks 😅

Good morning ladies, happy Sunday to the downunder folks, and Saturday to others.
‘It was a very busy chatty day yesterday thoroughly enjoyed myself going out with Helena and then the visit from Kay and David.
‘David loves cooking so I hope the cake recipe turns out well for him. I may even try it myself again.
‘Jazzy I like your apple dessert recipe it sounds very yummy.
Just had next Fosamax and all is well with that, no tummy issues👍
Shoulder trouble is prevalent it seems, Josie my friend was working on the farm on Friday and whacked her shoulder and the pain was awful. Went to urgent care clinic but there was a 3 hour wait, so she waited and went on opening time yesterday, had X-rays no break but severely bruised internally so needs to take it easy and have Physiotherapy on it. Will give her a call today and see if she needs any help I could do for her.
‘Well I’ve sat up for the required 30 minutes after the pill so now can go and get breakfast, and see what my Tomten have been doing overnight.
‘Still unsure whether to tackle making the ladies new panties and skirts yet, but being a soft hearted soul I might relent and give in if they ask nicely.….
I’m glad you are tolerating the fosamax better

Oh my! I loved this update on the gnomes. Good they have good food but, as you said, I wonder at their true intentions. Keep an eye on anything with liquor in it. I hope they have a designated driver for when the festivities end.

Exactly, well I did a bit of lingerie rearranging with Clodagh and she’s happy with tighter ruffles and not too much knicker exposure, she has enough of that with her irish dance routines.
‘I think I might have to get my engineering guys into making some serious padlocks or on the other hand, now we have the combination to the safe I could lock the booze in there, hmmmm. I just hoping prying 👀 haven’t discovered the number sequence. Oh boy what have I unwittingly unleashed by giving them eyes.
