I own two Treadle sewing machines! I learned on Mom's electric sewing machine, but loved making clothes on the Treadle. One was my great grandmother's and one was DH's grandmother's.
I have a treadle I bought when my kids were young & I used to sew lots of leather mitts for them. I haven’t used it for years, I really should get rid of it or start using it again
Glad that you found a glasses solution. DD had to do some experimenting after his cataract surgery but he is now wearing bifocals with basically clear glass on top and reading glasses on the bottom. He could not get used to separate reading glasses. This works well for him.

I love using those vintage sewing machines. They don't call them work horses for nothing. You used it to sew through leather which they will sew though with no problem, and they are easy to fix because they have simple mechanical parts. I think the only somewhat expensive part might be the motor.
I like the Ghirardelli chips too. And their brownie mix also. DD always keeps a box or two on hand for emergency desserts. We usually have pecans in the freezer---we order from an orchard in DD's hometown in Texas---and they are great added to the brownie mix.
I buy that brownie mix too, it’s very good. I’ve never added pecans though.
i have a 1000 calorie a square inch brownie recipe that soooo good but I make the mix now. My recipe has eagle brand milk, chocolate chips & brown sugar so pretty pricey to make & the mix is almost as good.
We get our Pfizer bivalent booster in three weeks, and in the meantime trying to play it safe. Hospitals are full of kids with RSV, the flu is starting to take off and people are still dying of one form of COVID or another. It's going to be a loooong winter again 😟
I went to Lloydminster today, I should have taken a mask but didn’t, didn’t see many wearing them but heard lots coughing.
Fabricland had a big Black Friday sale, 50% off basically everything, I now have everything to make the jackets for Christmas, now just need to get my butt in gear & get them done, I‘ve been procrastinating
I did some Christmas shopping, got goodies to make a basket for my 95 yr old Aunt who is in a nursing home. Ive done that the past few years & she seems to enjoy her snacks. I also got 2 little Nerf ( foam dart) guns for my nephew, my kids & GKs loved those & some chocolates & a box of assorted teas for a couple of Christmas exchanges. Makes me feel better when I feel more organized
I used my 1975 Singer for sewing canvas and Sunbrella fabric canopies for our first gazebo at the house. (No one told me when I was making aprons in Home Ec that I would become a tent maker one day lol.) In the early 60s, my dad used my mom's Singer to make a family sized tent for camping when we were in Europe. The new Singers just don't measure up to the historical quality. My MIL's 1977 Singer was in pristine condition when we gave it to a friend's daughter last summer and she knew exactly what she was getting. Now the machines have all the bells and whistles but they can't handle the heavy stuff for long and they're plastic instead of solid metal. Pearl's Girls has amreal treasure there.
You will have to let us know if that works.
There was a whole rack of them in Walmart today, most in fill bloom but I didn’t see any in colors I don’t have.
I heard from my son and someone broke his car window took his fuse box out of his dash and then stole his car ramps. The ramps are how he makes his money by hauling cars. He said he could have cried. He has had one thing after another going wrong for him. I pray all the time for things to turn around for him and then this happens. I'm sick to death about all that has happened to him. David won't let him come over because with his dog Ozzy Ozzy is the sweetest but big dog, he is well behaved so it limits Bobbys visits because Bobby doesn't like leaving Ozzy alone too long. He takes Ozzy everywhere with him. Bobby never married so Ozzy is like his child he has always showed him so much loved when he lived in Memphis,TN. and he had no family there when his sister and family moved. Enough on this. Hope everyone is having a good day love to you all. I have to go my shoulder is bad even to type.
DS wondered that too. The owner wasn’t there when he went yesterday so he said he will phone Monday & see if he gets anywhere.
Hes afraid they drilled more than 1 hole in it & it’s plastic so must be replaced & I guess they charge a ridiculous amount for new ones, that’s why he called insurance.
we will see how he does🤞🤞they really don’t need this extra expense just now. His last week of work is next week & the transmission was $4500. He’s applied for a couple of other jobs but no word yet
It was a well packed church with alternate seats everywhere for the funeral that I went to. It was more like a flower child memorial. She and her DH were homesteaders. She made and gave away gnomes that she made. She tucked them in everywhere and into others spaces on a whim. She was known locally as the gnome lady. I met a girl that came and lived with my DH's family. I told her that they were weird and she burst out laughing she never dared to say so. We shared the told and untold stories and lies that existed in my husbands family. I learned a few new things and she learned a lot of things from me.Haven't seen her in 15-20 years but we correspond at least once a year at Christmas. They came to the house for a while after for more catch up. DH's family never got out of the Victorian era. If they had info from 1910 it was the way things were forever. They never moved with the times. We both gave grace to DH's father as he was interred and they got him back by keeping him hid in the kitchen from then on. He lived a very tough demasculinized life and the 2 boys picked up on that quickly and it affected them lots growing up, and the way they were able to live their lives.
We need to get together more often. There are many more stories to be told. She told me that that David was the best man at Tony's (her DH) and her marriage and Tony was my DH's best man they were pretty tight growing up in the summers here. Both went to private schools elsewhere in the winter.
It was a good time talking to old acquaintances as this is a small area of about 5,000 people total in the two neighboring towns and they have always shared a school district.
Just catching up, I got on the treadmill and did a walk and then a run, a portion of the Boston Marathon, feels so good to move. I ate like a starving person though, when I was done. lol
I'm going to watch some tv and knit while I catch up here.
Sonja, I'm watching a blog thingy by a couple that live on Svalbard, wow, that would be a really interesting place to visit. Not that all of Sweden wouldn't be lovely to visit.
Edit: she said Sweden, but I found out it's actually Norway, so hmmm...interesting. lol

I've been using reading glasses for several years. I can't walk around in them, or it makes me off balance again, which is why I don't often wear my prescription glasses. They make the balance issues worse. I;m glad he found a work around.
