They are after the catalytic converters all over, because they can get a good price for them to use for drug money or whatever they are stealing to get money for. I forget what is in the catalytic converters that makes them so expensive and valuable. That is the first that I have heard about the handicap placards being stolen and sold! Wow! Of course, I don't have one, so that may be why I wasn't told about it when I got my driver's license renewed. And they have an informational TV on the wall to give you something to watch while waiting that didn't say anything about it, either. Maybe so as not to give anyone ideas?
According to Mike, catalytic converters contain three precious metals, one of which is platinum. Easy to see why they're attractive targets for thieves.

It sure makes it confusing! Especially since I could never wrap my head around the metric system. Still can't, but that is most math for me anyway. I can do basics but don't make me do anything but the most basic fractions for sewing and cooking. I have been known to decide I want to make a pattern that calls for more than one color fabric in just one color, and go to the cutting counter and tell them I want this fraction, that fraction, and this fraction all in one color and piece! I just tell them I can't do fractions, please and thank you.
I consider myself to be "bilingual" when it comes to measurements I was still in school when Canada changed to the metric system so for many years I was doing conversions in my head. I still cook in imperial mostly because that's how my cookbooks and recipes are written, but I can work with either when it comes to temperatures, distances/length and weights.

As promised yesterday by me. I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo at least a week ago as the blooms were beautiful. Not nearly as large as most of yours but certainly brings me joy every morning when I walk into the kitchen. 🥰🥰😁👍
I’ve also placed 2 of the new Christmas tree balls in front of the Cactus, guess I should’ve turned their lights on, oh well never mind. 😁👍

So many flowers for such a small plant! Beautiful. I've looked around here but I don't think I have the space to squeeze in another plant. My avocado tree has hit 4' and it's branching out, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to keep it. The African violets have teeny tiny flower buds again, so I guess I'll have to settle for those flowers. Love the little Christmas ornaments too.

yes which he is refusing to take at the moment , apparently doesn't need it , once I can get him to partially listen to what I'm actually saying and he realises his behaviour is not his normal self he will start taking it again , I need to get on to the pharmacy and tell them I want it back in with his other medication instead of separate that someone decided to do this month
I hope things get sorted out soon. No one needs that kind of stress.

Tomten travel fuel.
‘The discussion on gasoline got me thinking and wondering how the Tomten move around.
‘I posed the question to them once they surfaced this morning and Digby gave me some answers, being a garden gnome he knows all about fossil fuels etc.
‘He was hesitant and wouldn’t divulge what they use for big events involving world travel.
‘That would break the gno,e code we are born with amd no humans can ever know, so there, he grumpily replied. Oops🙄
So I carefully asked what they use for local travel when humans can witness comings and goings.
I am curious as they’re a leg less lot, not entirely from alcohol consumption either.
‘Digby grumpily whispered he supplies 100% octane GT100 fuel by infusing compost and reindeer farts. 🦌
Oh methane, of course!
it’s the best he said and not reliant on fossil fuels you humans are using and ruining our planet.
oh boy he’s really grumpy today.
‘Now my curiosity is in warp drive, so asked how is it used as you don’t drive cars?
His answer was that’s for me to know and you to find out maybe…. you inquisitive human.
After that retort I backed off and left him throwing compost about and muttering to himself.
He may say it's methane but I think he was trying to avoid telling you the truth -- it's really magic. After all, gnomes are mythical beings who belong to a world of magic beyond our ken. Gardens are only one of the places where we're allowed to see them as they go about gnome business.

I watched a bit on the weather in Buffalo and boy did they ever get a ton of snow! that Lake effect can be pretty crazy.
They got eight inches where we used to live -- I feel like we dodged some kind of bullet 😆 Lake effect snow is usually pretty heavy and the wind would have packed it down. It would have taken both of us working hours to dig our place out and clear the two arrays of solar panels. After all that, it's supposed to be raining by the end of the week so it's going to be one big mess of slush. Yuck!!

Yes, I wish he would get a good dependable job like DS2. He was thinking of taking his 4th class power engineering tickets but isn’t sure going back to the oilfield is a sure job either.
DS2 has his 2nd class power engineering certificate & there are jobs up where he works but DS1 doesn’t really want to work away from home while the kids are still in school.
That's a tough spot to be in for your older son. I hope something opens up for him where he can be with his family and earn a living. You don't get a second chance at being part of your kids' growing up years, if you miss them, they're gone.

I was planning to do stranded colour work then I got to thinking what would happen if I didn't get the face right , and what it would be like trying to frog that fluffy yarn , so I decided to do it all separate
By doing the snowman separately from the hat, you've created another unique "By Sonja" that everyone, me included, will want the pattern for. I can see the A Team in them looking cuter than ever.

Freezing fog around this morning , bitterly cold and we had to get the de icer out for the car , windows wouldn't work as frozen , I think winter is on its way , Mayo wasn't to keen to go outside yesterday as she doesn't like getting her paws wet, she literally tippy toed🤣, son said the day before she took one step out the door realised it was raining and jumped back on her bed under the blanket , this is the same dog that won't think twice about running in the North Sea, jumping in the pond or even the fountain 😆
Smart dog. She recognizes icky miserable weather when she sees it and has the same reaction as we do -- I'm going back to bed 😅. I'm glad she's able to calm your DH when she's around, that gives you a bit of a respite.

10 fluid ounces in the US and 20 in the UK so not the same. Wonder why he was taught that a pint is the same everywhere?
Yes we had 4 quarts to a gallon and 2 pints to a quart. But different amounts to them.
Maybe the pint being referred to is a pub pint. I've seen pub glasses and mugs with the fill line painted on them.

I did think that! But no idea how to make it. Blend it and add to tonic water? But rhubarb needs cooking I would think
I wonder if you could infuse water with rhubarb like you do with citrus or herbs, or blend it and strain out the solids like you do with watermelon. Either way, some sugar would be needed.

I would have said sugar essential but this says otherwise This Simple, Brisk Rhubarb Juice will Amaze You
Another suggest just juicing it again with no sugar. But still not convinced that no sugar would work- I do like sweet things but rhubarb is sour so hard to see how it would work. Mixed with a sparking water it might be OK.

I looked at a number and all said no sugar- most said cook it in water for 15-20 minutes. Then strain it and sit it in the fridge for a while to let the sludge settle to the bottom.
I guess I'll never find out for myself because Mike doesn't like rhubarb so I don't even bother bringing it home. I like it raw dipped in sugar but haven't done that for years.

Just received a lovely thought from a local yoga teacher for Thanksgiving:
Am Thankful For
by Nancy J Carmody

1 am thankful for
...the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have
been surrounded by friends.
....the taxes that I pay
because it means that I'm employed.
.the clothes that fit a little too snug
because it means I have enough to eat.
....my shadow who watches me work
because it means I am out in the sunshine.
...the spot I find at the far end of the parking lot
because it means I am capable of walking.
...all the complaining I hear about our Government
because it means we have freedom of speech.
...that lady behind me in church who sings offkey
because it means that I can hear.
...lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and
gutters that need fixing
because it means I have a home.
...my huge heating bill
because it means that I am warm.
...weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day
because it means that I have been productive.
...the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours
because it means that I am alive.

Hope it is not too long for our format here.
Beautiful and perfect 💕

I have lots in the garden & just make things when we have company. Once a year I make a rhubarb custard pie, only problem is I always have to make a second dessert for DH
My oldest son used to pick a couple of big stalks from the neighbor's plant so I could make a rhubarb custard pie for him and me. It was growing in the back outside the fence so we figured it was fair game.
