I live in the middle of 2 lakes both man made I know one is part of the old Victorian farming estate I would expect the other is too , the geese come in droves mainly to just one of the lakes but they are never any problem ,
Around here, it looks like thousands of geese don't bother to migrate. With the greenbelt, wetlands and river so close, we see them all the time flying from one place to another, always honking. If they weren't so messy, I don't think people would mind them as much because I think they're beautiful birds.

It’s crazy weather over here too, I’ve had to wear warm clothes the last few days as it’s been so wet, but not too cold 20C most days.
Another thunder storm on the horizon tonight and high winds in the mix.
I hope you don't get any wind damage from the storms, it's always such a mess to clean up after. We had snow squalls go through last night and when you're halfway to the sky, there's not much protection from the wind. Have to go secure the furniture on the balcony today before it gets damaged.

Curiosity got the better of me so I had to look up when they first arrived here. Apparently a wealthy business man brought a pair back in the 17th century as ornamental birds in his stately home.
I would call that payback for all the non native species of plants, insects and animals that were introduced to North America by Europeans who missed the old country 😅

Bonnie, great story about the geese your mom kept.
Geese in Marin seemed to stay all year. Places with ponds and people who would feed them....parks, etc.
Up here, we see and hear them on the Russian River, but they migrate. We do see them where there are ponds too, but they leave as well.
Cooking duck..isn't it very fatty? I recall having duck for Thanksgiving once and it was really a lot of fat to cook off.
OK off to get out of here by 8ish. Will catch you up on the other side of the day.'
TTYL
Wild ducks and geese are much leaner than the domestic ones so not as much fat to worry about. My aunt used to thaw them in milk to draw out the gamey taste and they were roasted stuffed and wrapped bacon. Not my favorite meat but they weren't too bad. The one thing domestic fowl have over game birds is that you're not always guarding against biting into a piece of shot 😅

Jazz/Sharon, honestly you are so naughty, but sure made me laugh out loud, lol! 🤣🤣😁👍🥰🙃
As much as I would love to take credit for that wonderful pun, I'm afraid the glory goes to Alibee this time. I'm over the top impressed by her quick wit on this one though. Well done 😅😅👍

Just returned from the luncheon for 96 Ballantrae ladies. The lunch was amazing with 3 courses which honestly was a struggle for me to get through, lol!
I swapped my steak for fish, as my neighbour doesn’t eat fish. This luncheon was pre organized by a group of woman and everyone had to choose between a Cornish hen, steak or fish as the main course. My one neighbour’s uncle passed last week and wasn’t able to come. So my next door neighbour bought her ticket but doesn’t eat fish, so I swapped.

I won the 1st prize, lol! Didn’t even realize it was my ticket until my neighbour realized it was my ticket, lol!
what a wonderful day I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy. 🥰👍
You've had a great day, especially ending up with a surprise gift like that😁

Today turned out to be a bit of unexpected déja vu. On our morning bike ride, we always pass by a cute little ice cream parlour beside the path at a beautiful park and beach. They call themselves a microcreamery, with everything they make being from locally sourced ingredients. Today we finally made the drive to check them out, approaching the shop from the opposite direction of the bike path, and I started getting flashbacks the closer we got. Turns out I used to live just around the corner from the ice cream place in 1979. I was able to find my old address, it looks really run down, but if I had even remembered it, there's no way I could have found it on purpose.

How neat this is. Sad it is a bit run down. Do you have your new bike now? Does it fit as it should?
No bike yet and worse, someone has hitched their bike to the post I was using in the bike room 🙁. Bikes are still slow to be delivered, they said maybe another week. I guess things will get sorted out one way or another.

Oh no. So is there another post you can use for your present bike? Or do you not have a bike at present?
Right now, I have no bike. I gave away my old one, returned the first bike I bought after one ride and now I'm waiting for its replacement. If there had been a replacement bike in my size at the store, everything would have been okay, but it's been slow in coming. Bike season is over anyways for the year so I may be able to hitch up to Mike's post for the winter, and I'm certainly going to watch my old spot and take it back if I can.

Bit the bullet and tried to make a virtual appnt. with my doc. First available is Dec. 29. That does absolutely no good when I’ve had this stuff for almost 2 weeks. Time to start worrying about bronchitis or pneumonia. They checked for any availability and came up with next Monday. So, decided to ask DD to drive me to Urgent Care first thing this am. TTYL with the next exciting installment.
I'm glad to hear you're finally going to see a doctor. Your cough sounds horrible and it's not getting any better. At our "certain" age, you really can't take chances with your health and just hope for the best. Fingers crossed that they can give you some relief today. {{{Hugs}}}

We have a rough plan as of tonight for where, and have decided when we are leaving. Now it's start getting things put in their place if not needed between now and then. The men will check over the rigs and make sure everything is in order for the road, making sure things are sealed if needed, ect. We will top off fuel on our way to the highway. Need to get rabbit food and maybe hay before we leave, also. Last thing to do is laundry and fill fresh water tanks.
Are you getting excited to be back on the road again? Sounds like a great trip, wishing you good weather and safe travels when you finally up anchor and pull out.

Machriste I'm sorry you still aren't well. I still think a doctor visit is a good suggestion as you don't know for sure it is a virus; sure has been hanging around a long time. We were at our GP yesterday (appointment was for me) and doctor gave DH an antibiotic as as he coughs he spits up mucus. Hopefully this helps. Oldest DD joined us there to discuss with doctor my memory lapses etc. The drew blood to check thyroid, B12 levels, etc and are referring me to a neurologist and to ENT. Both my DB and DS have dementia (both older than me) but he said it does tend to be hereditary. He also suggested having the ENT recheck my hearing before getting the hearing aids. I'm not thrilled about the possibility of dementia or Alzheimer's (doctor mentioned both) but as he said there is treatment to slow things down and help cope. Not going to stress about it as nothing definitely diagnosed yet. DD and DH both shared things they have noticed major changes in me. All is good though as we each get dealt a different set of cards to deal with and deal with it I will do.
💕💕{{{hugs}}} Easier said than done, but try not to fret over all of this until you know for sure what's going on. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other one day at a time and keep your horizon short. You've had a lot going on lately and I hope when the dust settles, there's more good news than bad.

My SIL Lilian used to slice it thinly and dip it in flour egg breadcrumbs and fry it in butter like schnitzel and it was ok.
I don’t like it so never cook it myself. I can eat kidneys but no other offal food. Sheep brains and tripe was something I had in childhood and cannot stand either yuk!
🤢🤮 Yuck is right!

Amazing, but did you get ice cream?
Are you kidding??? 😅😅 You could tell it wasn't made in a factory, best ice cream we've had for ages. They had a little bistro and gift shop where everything was baked on the premises, coffee from a boutique roaster, it was a really great find. The outdoor patio is full of comfy chairs and I can see us biking there in nice weather next year for a treat.

It sounds lovely. How cool that you saw your old home too, although a bit sad to see it in a bad state.
‘Yesterday was horrible weather wise and same today, made myself a coffee with a good shot of Kahlua in it yesterday and it was very nice too, and added chocolate powder on top mmmmm!
Good for you! Sometimes you have to call in the big guns when things get crappy.

When we were first married, we would drink Cold Duck for celebrations. Just what you said, Bonnie, only I never heard it called Baby Duck.
Just the thought of all that sweet....like sloe gin....makes me feel queezy!
How about a G & T. You can get tonic water with no sugar or sodium now. And, you could make a Vodka/Tonic too if gin is too strong. DH has vodka and cranberry juice with a lime twist. Sugar-feee juice.
Arlo looks such a grown up boy already...is he only 2? Sure looks older. Hard to believe that time has passed.
Baby Duck and Cold Duck are two different critters. Baby Duck is a uniquely Canadian sweet fizzy wine, produced by Andrés Winery, which was first established in Port Moody BC. It's what I used to call training wine -- most kids start off with stuff like this because it tastes like soda pop with a kick. If I remember correctly, Cold Duck is a sparkling red wine as well but has a bit more body to it than Baby Duck. Both will give you painful wanna die hangovers if you overindulge 🤣🤣

Yes I remember well the after effects of cold duck back in the day.
I just had a flashback about Baby Duck wine. When I was in basic training (19 years old), when we were finally allowed to go to the recruits' mess all they served that we could afford were Baby Duck wine and Moosehead beer, both of which were pretty awful. So being young, stupid and we're never gonna die young ladies, we mixed them. Proof positive that two wrongs do not make a right 😅😅

I'm calling it a night now that I think (hope) I have the border pieces of my afghan lined up with the centre panel. I'll know for sure tomorrow. Wishing all the US ladies a Happy Thanksgiving, be safe if you're travelling and make the most of your time with family and friends. 💕 🦃🦃

If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. Mom and I both have done that many times!
I'm sure we've all done that. I'm always forgetting the garnishes and add-ins like chopped bacon and chives for potatoes or cheese for the chili. I always find these perfectly prepared bowls of stuff in the fridge when I'm putting away the leftovers.🙄
