Knitting Tea Party, Friday 18th November, 2022 :knitting1:

I seem to be getting earlier and earlier posting the new week, but I’m always afraid as the night goes on that I’ll forget altogether! So here we are early as usual - and to be honest “early” is not usually my “usual”, I’m more inclined the opposite!

The summary and following lists are a summary of last week's Tea Party and are of more value to the regulars here unable to keep up with all the chatter than to newbies - who are very welcome to join us at any time just by speaking up and making yourself known. A lot more pages this week than we have had for a while but mainly general chit-chat this week.

Kate has been referred for an endoscopy although the nausea has now gone. 🤞🏻

Flyty1n had a MRI this week to work out what is wrong with her leg - no wonder she has had pain as she has a break and a meniscal tear. Fracture is well aligned and only a small tear so no treatment other than Tylenol/paracetamol and walking only as tolerable without too much pain.

Machristie came back from her weekend away unwell - and remains unwell.

Jazzy has been looking after her grandson this week and so has been around very little. Now back home.

Poledra has finally done the last of her farm work - and tells us she is not going to do it next year!

Grandies are growing up quickly with one reaching double figures, twins reaching two and two young ones becoming mobile - Matthias especially. Some weeks just seem to make the KP grandies growing up show up so clearly.

The video with the boys singing was a hoot, but boy they're good.
I'm all caught up, had a great day, and the weather wasn't bad, cool but not bad.
Thank you K&M for the new week, greatly appreciated, early or late, doesn't matter, whenever you get us started is good with me.

You are right, it is a lot of work, and it will definitely be treasured! I can only work on it in good lighting. I was finally smart. I took what I had finished of the cabin, and the graph/chart that I had taken to the library and had enlarged, to the eye doctor when I had my exam in October. I told her that that and knitting on fine yarn to make socks was what I did most. And that I have a really hard time reading the charts. So she tested me to see what strength readers I need just for doing the bead work! They work great! I wear contacts for distance, and can't use the multi-focal because they don't make the strengths I need together, it's either one or the other. The readers I use for everything else are a+2.50, and the ones for beading are +3.0, and even better, she sent me to the store next door that sells them for $1! I did get a pair there, but also went to Walmart and got a better pair for $5. I'm not having the chart scrambling for me as much. Before it was all jumbled and scrambled. Now at least I can use post it notes to mark each row, and not always have to use 2 to isolate the row I am working on. There are so many pages to this pattern that I printed just the charts and took them to be enlarged as much as possible, and I am using the Adobe .pdf program on my Kindle Fire to use the rest of the pattern for all of the steps and pictures of each step. It makes it so much easier! And it doesn't use all that paper and ink!

wow you have a lot of patience to do the beading. It will be stunning when all done.

Good evening and thank you Margaret and Kate for the new tea party. Sick of being sick, but have not gone to doctor. There is not much treatment for a virus and no sign of anything bacterial like bronchitis. I think it’s just tough it out and stay isolated.
DD keeps me supplied with kleenex, orange juice, lemons and soups. She leaves things outside my back door. We definitely have snow and temps are down, but not below 0 F yet. I’m staying inside for now. Drinking a lot of tea with lemon and honey.

it’s still $4,59 here. I’m wondering why…it seems other areas have cheaper gas. Even some of the smaller towns around here do.

Well DD and both girls have just tested positive for covid (again they had it in Feb) , and I had Penelope here yesterday for a few hours... at least we were mainly outside though as it was a nice day so fingers crossed I don't get it too. So far Penelope has no symptoms, Serena a slight runny nose and DD has the bad headache... which is why tested in the first place.

Bonnie.... I posted at the end of last week to note that the pattern says to use black for penguin feet but I did use yellow. Edit... also I used white where the pattern said cream.

so sorry about your dd and the girls being sick. Hopefully you stay well. I saw my dr at the school program this morning and told him I’m only seeing him at school functions and no where else. Lol

I thought you would like to see my other two Singer sewing machines. My son Bobby gave me the other two besides giving me the other one he brought when he moved here from Memphis. He bought the other two when he was upholstered his station wagon 1960, so he gave them to me. I'm having fun with them. I really like using those old machines. He gave me those machines at a good time because my other two sewing machines needed to go to the sewing machine hospital,lol. I put different colored thread in each machine, and I just switch machines when I need to sew that color. The middle sewing machine has a new fast motor on it and I have to use a light foot on it or it will fly off the table, lol. Two of them don't reverse stitch and it only has one stitch length. There is a knob that supposed to change the stitch length, but it doesn't work but I really don't care about that.

Wow lucky you the old machines are really sturdy and great if they still work.
‘I have my grandmothers old Unity machine you turn the handle to work it, not electric. I learned to sew on it.
An antique I think.

‘At present it’s inside but will move it on Christmas morning.
‘Also here is my latest and possibly last knitting for the store for awhile.
‘We left the store and went and had coffee and yummy cheesecake for morning tea. Tried a new place and it was really nice.

I did buy a new bike but after one 20 mile ride, it was obvious that wasn't the right one for me so they are replacing it with one that fits me better, even swap on price. The issue is the crossbar, which was too high to allow me to mount or dismount easily and a challenge to get moving again after stopping. The new bike doesn't have a crossbar at all. It's called a step through style and it's like getting on a Vespa scooter. They have to bring in one that's my size so that's what I'm waiting for.

Oh no! I hope you didn't catch it and your daughter and girls only have mild cases. Even when you try to be careful, it's so hard to avoid exposure because it's usually too late by the time you find out.

We very seldom eat dessert but tonight I had a craving for something sweet so I made this apple dessert. I thought I would share the recipe because it's fast, economical and light. No idea what to call it but I've had the recipe since the mid 70s.

2/3 cup white sugar
1 cup apple, peeled, cored and diced (I just use the whole apple) NOTE: use a good cooking apple like MacIntosh
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Combine the apple and sugar in a bowl with a spatula until sugar is moist. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients and add to the apple mixture, fold in chopped nuts. Spread in a greased 9" pie plate, bake 30 minutes at 350°F. Serve warm or room temp.

I've made this successfully with Robin Hood gluten free flour if you need to substitute.

Yep me too. I have got this far without getting Covid but I guess it will happen at some point. I still don't want it though.

Yesterday, I had my pool therapy. I started back last week. Today I spent a good portion of the morning getting everything to do with my upcoming surgery set up. Yes, my surgeon for my shoulder is going to scrap and smooth out the arthritis he told me that it doesn't mean it won't come back and I have an extreme tear in my Rotar cuff he will have to repair and any other problems he comes up against. He knows I don't want a total shoulder replacement. I just don't have good luck with surgeries. My PT guy told me it is not an easy recovery it will take me 1 1/2 to 2 years to get over. That scares me I'll be 78 before I get over it, yikes. I have an appointment to see my provider Dec. 2nd. I'm suppose to have all my pre-op x-rays EKG and blood work that day. I do hope that happens but when it comes to the Base and how things get all Mucked up is the norm so we shall see. That is what is going on. Take care dear ones. Love to you all.

Is your surgery next month or just the prep visits? Hopefully the surgery will be successful. An important part of that being the case is following what you are told- and that will mean no housework, a good ground on which to get some help into the house as if you start too soon you dramatically increase the likelihood that the surgery won't work. And yes shoulder shoulder does take a long time to recover so be prepared for a long recovery period. While there is no guarantee that it will work even if you do everything as you are advised there little chance of success if you aren't able to stop things that you are told not to do.
