good evening. Just sat down and thought I should do a quick catch-up. Was going to comment but per usual my head is empty. After our walk I took Gus for his groom and he is so handsome again. Goodness….such an improvement. Not sure what happened last time and why the grow out was so terrible. Groomer couldn’t figure it out either. Anyway, he is super handsome again. Tuckered him out as afterwards went to show off to dd and grandson played fetch with him. By the time we got home he went to his bed and fell sound asleep. Now he’s raring to go again. Of course just when I’m winding down for the night. seems like I didn’t get enough done today though. Talked to an old friend for over an hour and also made a huge pot of Gumbo. Froze quite a bit which will be nice to a quick lunch or dinner. Still haven’t seen buttons of the cardi…I really need to get to it and send it off. Anyway, have a good evening or day. Back to my knitting. View attachment 1278995
Awwww, what a handsome boy. Rox is due for a groom on the 9th and she needs it. She is a shaggy girl. That is great he was so tuckered out but of course they get their sleep in and raring to go when you are ready to relax. I love his color.

pretty crazy it’s working so well for you! I always thought those hybridized ones wouldn’t take root like that and then bloom! You will have very early flowers this year! Lucky you. When I was talking to my friend she said it’s almost gardening time. Pooh was my reply…not here in nw Idaho! Maybe I can get out there in April. Maybe, if the ground isn’t too wet.and there’s no snow on the ground. Oh well, such is life. I am trying to figure out my seeding time though. My sister in law and I are going to drive to California the end of March for a week to visit another widowed sister in law. It should be loads of fun! But I am wondering if I should start my flower seeds before I leave and put a timer on the lights or wait till I come back. I’m afraid waiting till April will make things so late. Need to think this through.
I normally start my petunias the beginning of March but I shouldn’t have to start so many if this bunch take root
You & your SIL should have a great trip

yes, but I understand governments are trying to do away with anything using natural gas. And I think that’s why this Happened. They want everything powered by electricity. Which as we have seen in California is so reliable. And today I just received a notification that in 2024, my electric bill will go up approximately $4.00 per month If I continue to use what I’m using now, and the natural gas will be $2.00 per month more. I guess they’re letting us know a year in advance so we can plan, but once you’re on a fixed income, not sure how much planning can be done. Anyway, complaining won’t help and won’t change a thing. Going to work on the blanket. it’s a lovely bright blue, not dark at all, but for some reason I’m having a terrible time seeing the stitches. Very frustrating…have 2 lamps on me and a large white napkin on my lap.
Yes, we put gas forced air in about 3 years ago because it is more efficient and also a gas range a year and a half ago and now they want us all electric. I sure hope this will all be grandfathered in when the time comes and hopefully it won’t be til I am long gone. It is pure craziness. We have not received the letter yet but I have been expecting any time. We are on a monthly payment and I am sure it will go up.
That is frustrating when we can’t see the stitches well. That does cause it to be something we don’t want to work on. Hope it gets going for you.

For what it's worth, I used grow lights on a timer along with a watering mat that would wick water from a bucket when I went out to BC at the beginning of April every year. I would try to have the seeds germinated and out from under the covers before I left and it worked great.
I don’t use grow lights but I have a system of pots with clear lids that have a watering mat under them & it works great. With all these petunias I’m going To have to get my big sheet of plywood up early though as the small board I usually use early in the season is almost full already

Oh, that's what I was going to say earlier, my financial advisor got a phone call on his cell phone, from his cell phone number, like that was a legit call?! lol. They highjack people numbers and use them because they think you'll answer if it's someone you know, sick really.
I had that happen to me once a year ago where I got a call from my phone number on my cell phone. 😮

I only have 2 halogen bulbs in the lamp over my chair, since no other bulbs fit, I better see if you can still buy them here otherwise I will have to junk the lamp if they go out. I don’t think the bit I use that lamp, mostly when I’m cross stitching or casting on or off, is going to kill the environment
I haven't heard anything about halogen bulbs being banned. I bought one recently for the fixture in my bathroom. There were lots in stock.

And what is a cord of wood? Not a measurement I've heard of. Is it weight or area?
The cord is a unit of measure of dry volume used to measure firewood and pulpwood in the United States and Canada.

A cord is the amount of wood that, when "racked and well stowed" (arranged so pieces are aligned, parallel, touching and compact), occupies a volume of 128 cubic feet (3.62 m3).[1] This corresponds to a well-stacked woodpile 4 feet (122 cm) high, 8 feet (244 cm) wide, and 4 feet (122 cm) deep; or any other arrangement of linear measurements that yields the same volume.

cord, unit of volume for measuring stacked firewood. A cord is generally equivalent to a stack 4 × 4 × 8 feet (128 cubic feet), and its principal subdivision is the cord foot, which measures 4 × 4 × 1 feet. A standard cord consists of sticks or pieces 4 feet long stacked in a 4 × 8-foot rick.Dec 29, 2022

When I was teaching I watched as a “new” girl was being taunted by 2 boys behind her in the line, but before I could intervene she turned, put a hand on either of their ears and banged their heads together! It was the neatest move I have ever seen, but of course when they protested I “hadn’t seen anything”! 🤣👍 They weren’t going to mess with her again!
Fantastic!!!! I bet they were put in their place.

I have an induction cooktop and the response to temperature changes, either up or down, is at least as fast as a gas range. I hate open flame so I would never even consider gas. Had one for about 6 months when I was 19 and it scared me every time I had to use it.
My mom had a gas stove as far back as I can remember. I did have a propane one a few years ago and then we had gas piped in so we converted. I really liked it.

Good morning, the sun is out and we're warming up, it will be sloppy slushy out there for a few days, but oh well, it's warming up, yay. Lol
I'm just drinking my cuppa and knitting, I'll get up and around and accomplish something in a while, before knitting.
I'm caught up, so going to get something to eat while I knit.

glad you were just busy. Been missing you
I do know that there is a product called vegan leather for shoes and stuff, but why don't they just called it for what it is? Same for things like "plant based chicken nuggets" -- they're either chicken or they're not so why pretend? I really get irked by extremes in anything and those who think the rest of us should jump on their bandwagon. Good lord, gotta get my coffee in me! I think a cranky old lady crawled out of my bed this morning 😅
THE SUN IS GOING TO SHINE TODAY!!😎😎💃💃
About three years ago I bought a pair of winter boots, they were a good fit, very comfortable and a good price. A week or two later I saw the store advertising them online as “vegan boots”. I’d bought them because I liked them! I’m pretty sure those boots will be kicking around in some landfill site many hundreds of years after I’m gone.

I'm finally caught up. Haven't been commenting much but would do more if it wasn't such a pain trying to find the post I was replying to. I have used the back arrow and the refresher and I never seem to hit the right spot.
Off to have breakfast.
