Is it just me or do you get upset when you go to find a video to learn something and the person doing the video is so busy talking and moving around that all you do is get frustrated:. I just went looking for a good video on the bickford seam and was very disgusted on what I found. some people should not be out there doing vidios. glad I got that off my chest!

Well, most of the people making and posting tutorials on youtube are totally not professorial. And are not doing it for profit. And there is no limit on the number of videos or number of uploaders on a subject... I'm sure everyone is doing their best - and while not everyone's best is good enough, as long as we don't pay for it, we might use it or not, watch it or not - no need to get angry at the ones that try to contribute. Even when we don't feel the quality is high enough.

You are probably right but it does bother me especially when I am trying to learn something.

Right on!!!! If you can't learn from one, go to another until you find what you are after, or buy a knitting manual and learn from the written word. No use getting so het up over people thinking only to help others.

I often click off after a minute or so of 'waffle. If you are going to teach me something .... Get on with it! I wouldn't be at this stage if I didn't know that was a pair of needles.... And yes, I can see you have cast on!!
A ten minute video and the last minute is what I am looking for.
Sometimes I am happier with the photo and written word tutorials, at least they get to the point quickly.
Also, the tutorials where the camera isn't focused on the hand movements really make me angry. Don't they look at what the results are before posting the video. Some of them of a complete waste of time.

I know what your saying. I have had to remind myself several times that most of the videos are being done
as a sincere effort to be helpful.

DonnieK is right. Don't get frustrated, just find a different video. There are some really good teachers out there.

I agree with you those are the ones I learned to knit with but now everyone and their brother is making one even if they have no idea what they are doing. I just wish they would take the time to look at what they have videoed. I don't expect everyone to be perfect and there are vidios that are far from perfect that I have enjoyed but some are just a waste of time . maybe once I am retired and have more time it won't irritate me so much. but I shall try and have more patience . just needed to vent.

The first time I went to find a video on the Russian join, the women on the 5 or 6 videos spent three quarters of the time playing with the yarn before actually making the join. Some of them were 5 minutes or more and could have been done in 3 minutes flat.

I like those by Liat Gat and Staci from Very Pink - and I like that you can play them over and over until you get it right. I'm 'thick headed' as Daddy used to say and new stitches don't come easily to me; the You-Tube videos have helped me so much as I have no one near me who knits to help.

Judyh47-my 10 year old grandson has made a couple of videos on his game-playing. He didn't like the way they looked so hasn't posted 1 to You Tube yet. If a 10 year old can preview & self-critique, adults should certainly be able to!
