I tried this recently with #3 crochet cotton and size 2 needles, the smallest I have, thinking to make a cute little drawstring bag, but my work didn't look as smooth and neat as I wanted it to, so I decided it was just another of my hare-brained ideas that didn't work. But in today's digest I've read a couple of posts about knitting with crochet thread, so maybe I'm not totally crazy after all. How many of you have done this and been pleased with the result?

I have made dishcloths by doubling the thread. I think I used a size 0. The cloths made with thread are a bit rough. Great for scrubbing dishes or exfoliating.

I believe size 2 thread is equal to fingering weight so I guess you could knit with it. I haven't tried but it sounds interesting to me.

once i feel courageous enough i plan on trying to make knitted doilies....I make crocheted ones with everything from ww yarn down to sewing thread. I doubt that i will knit with sewing thread but bedspread weight cotton would be nice to try

My favorite knitting now is with "crochet thread". I like Size 30 thread, but have also knit with Size 20, Size 15, and Size 10. I knit doilies and tablecloths (or the kind of cloth that goes on the decorative round tables).

I think I will try that little round bag again. Have been looking at pictues you all posted, and I am blown away by the amazing work you all have done with such little bitty fine thread. My mother, grandmother and aunts used to crochet with #10, and I guess I must have, too, when I was young, but it is beyond me now. My eyes start to cross pretty quickly, and my work looks like nothing but big loopy string. But #3 is good. Thanks for your response, and especially for all the pictures you have posted of your beautiful work. Some of those pieces should honestly be in a museum.

I knit lace doilies out of crochet thread, that I assembled for a wedding canopy for my daughter.

I knit and crochet bandages out of size 10 crochet thread for the D.O.V.E. Foundation. I find it is easier to crochet the bandages than knit them. I have trouble getting the gauge on size two needles, but my friend Amanda knits beautiful bandages.

You could make a length of trim for your sheets and pillow cases. I started to do this several years ago from a pattern that I got from the library. Time to get back to it.
If you have a wedding or shower gift coming up, trimming a great set of sheets and pillow cases would be over the top.
Just pillow cases would also be great.

Someone is actually wearing your labor of love to cover a wound? Are they then washed and re-used?

I've used crochet thread to knit bookmarks. I think they turned out well.

There are lot's pf doilies that are knitted. If you google it you should come up with quite a few patterns.

I have crocheted with #10 thread and made lots of doilies, but here are pictures of my first knit ones. I love the look, but they did take a lot longer. I will probably try again on circulars...

I knit doll clothes with crochet thread. I treat size 3 thread as near to fingering in my doll patterns. It does knit up differently since it doesn't have the stretch of yarn.
