I have quite a lot of leftover yarns which I would like to give away. I live in NYC and would like t give it to any organization which could make use of them.
Would appreciate very much if someone could let me know where I could donate these yarns. thanks

Are you looking to hand-deliver locally, or are you willing to mail it?
I would prefer to deliver them.

thanks.
((((( Here are some local ideas to a:

Fellow crafter (neighbor)
Senior center
Thrift stores (tri-county?)
Extended care facilities (local hospital adjuncts)
Nursing homes
Missions
Homeless shelters
Libraries (have crafting groups sometimes)
Schools (crafting with yarn and at least middle
schoolers on up are taught to knit/crochet and
perhaps younger. Highschool for sure.
Churches (They craft for various medical charities, troops
bazaars, etc.)
Vacation Bible school programs
Scouting troops or other after-school programs
Justice facilities (county - they teach there, perhaps
crafting, too?)

Not so local; +++++++++Shipping costs or delivery costs may be a deterrent.....plenty to pan through here:

Enjoy!

will do! thanks again.
I donate a lot of yarn to a local womens shelter here. They use it to knit caps, scarves and gloves for themselves as many had to leave home with the clothes on their and their children's backs. They also knit for the men's homeless shelter. If you wanted to donate it to them, I will be willing to reinburse your postage. I don't know how you can contact me other than through email and not sure if this site allows it but you can contact me at [email protected] I know they always appreciate everything I give them.
Check to see if there is Project Linus group in your area. We are alway looking for yarn for blankets for children who are hurting.
You could try the schools. Alot of schools look for donated yarn to make projects for the troops, to sell to raise money, etc.
check with your neighborhood middle or high schools.
Thanks. I have a request for these yarns.
I had lots of leftover yarn, but not enough of anything to make a complete item. So I just knit them all together, with ends tied together and dangling. There was enough yarn to make a nice sized afghan "of many colors". My kids used to draw straws to see who got to wrap up in it each night.
Try a school in an underpriviled neighborhood or a senior center
Thanks to you and all who have given such wonderful suggestions; which I will certainly keep in mind for future left over yarns.
I was able to give away the yarns which will be used for a very good cause.
