There are no words to express the depth of gratitude our nation has and surely MUST feel when honoring these old vets.
We can't even come close to imagining the hardhips and despair they must have suffered thru in name of committment to our country...something I am sure they still live thru every day, since. My heart is with these magnificent men. They sure made then tough back then, didn't they?

Yes, the WWII vets are dying off rapidly. My dad was in the Phillipines. He's been dead for 14 years though. I still miss him. My husband is a vet of Korea. He's 81 and still going strong with only minor problems. We owe a debt of gratitude to all the men and women who have served this country in the military. Happy to see this post. I wish Memorial Day would revert back to a total day of remembering and NOT a days for store sales and "business as usual."

Thank you to all that served our country!

And I agree with you about the stores and "business as usual".
