Too bad I didn’t know about them when we visited PEI while our daughter was living there a bunch of years ago.
On our way back one time, we did stop at the Briggs and Little mill in New Brunswick. Unfortunately, the mill wasn’t running when we got there. I looked at yarn in the shop, but didn’t buy any. My only souvenir is a beaver-gnawed branch about a yard long and three inches diameter. I fetched it from where it had stuck in the stream, almost under the roadway in front of the mill. I guess the millpond used to power the mill in pre-electric days.
I did bring some wool and some roving home from Belfast Mini mills. I love the beaver stick souvenir story! So, sounds like something I or my traveling friends would do! Sometime if you have a few minutes, you should check out Belfast. They have some videos of the mini mills on their website. And they do finally have online ordering for the store. When we were there in 2018, they had some pictures up, but not really set up yet for online ordering. One of the ladies did tell me that since I had been in the store and had seen what yarns and colors and such that they carried, if I ever wanted to order I could call or email them, and they would ship to me........she assured me at that time that they only charged whatever it was that Canada Post charged them for the package. It really is a neat multi generational family business.

Would you believe, that I have yet to buy any yarn online? (That box of Speed-cro-sheen thread from someone on eBay a more thanna dozen years ago doesn’t count! It’s discontinued #3 thread, not yarn.)
Back before internet, I did buy some yarns by mail order from Herrschners, Annie’s Attic, and Mary Maxim, but that was over thirty years ago.

I live 50-60 miles from the nearest LYS, and about the same from the nearest Michaels, or JoAnn Fabric, or even a Hobby Lobby. Only 2 thrift stores within 20 miles of me and I have never seen yarn of any kind at either one of them. So, for me, online yarn shopping is a blessing........or maybe a curse depending on the sales. 😄 Little Knits gets me with their sock yarn sales!
