little crocheted dolls

I am trying to crochet a family of little 3-4 inches dolls for my granddaughter. I did one with worsted yarn on a size E hook and it doesn't look good...should I use Lilly cotton yarn for the face, maybe? The heavier yarn just looked to thick.

I bet the cotton yarn would be great for the faces. Somewhere online (forget where...maybe Ravelry) there is a pattern for a Nativity set...bet you could use that for a pattern...I am not sure if it was crochet or knit...maybe try Googling "free crochet Nativity pattern?"
Blessings! kimberly
((((((((((( You might try all lighter weights than WW. The doll is only 3-4 " tall.....hmmm - what weight was called for in the pattern?

Describe in more detail the: Doesn't look good.

If you want to make something that small use sport or fingering yarn and it will turn out perfect. You can use any pattern that calls for worst weight and all you have to do is adjust the needle size. So using a size E hook would be okay for the sports yarn, and i would use a C or smaller for fingering.
Thankyou so much for all the help. The pattern said to use worsted, but the idea of using sport or fingering sounds perfect. Going to try it tonight! Thanks!
