You can also use a patterned sock yarn. If you don't want wool, sock yarn is also available in acrylic, cotton or bamboo.

I have used baby crofter a number of times and found it very satisfactory. I bought mine from Deramores.com in the UK - fabulous service and lots of great yarns. Sirdar has lots of patterns for their yarns also on Deramores site.

I'm also a big fan using self patterning DK yarns. One of my favorites are the choices of KnitCol by Adriafil (attached) as well as the Sirdar Baby Crofter. I made these for our grandsons a few years ago. I always try to support my LYS but these can be found online as well. Happy Knitting All!
