This pattern is for a knitted "striped afghan". Its a pretty solid color with lengthwise stripes knitted in. I got the yarn at an auction so it might be old, but I couldn't find a Hobby Lobby pattern correction area online. Could you help, please?

CO 100
16 rows garter stitch
Row 17: 9p, 4k, * k2tog & yo, 3k, yo, k2tog * rep from 8 *to * 7 times; 4k, 9p

Is there a number missing? It says "repeat from 8", what 8?! Should it say k8 inside the * *? How many stitches would that be if you include a k8? No matter what I try, I cannot get 100 stitches!!! And that's only the 1st row! I'll limit this question to Row 17 for simplicity. Thank you for considering this. Following good knitting patterns thrills me!

it's okay.....it's all here for you....the repeat is from the * to the next * and then it says 7 times......keep going back to the *......and doing it all over again....you will end up with 13 sts left and you will do the 4k, 9p.....we've all been there....don't worry, we're all here to help you....you'll be helping the next guy in no time....

ps.........reading the pattern itself, i think it's a typo....the * typewriter key is the 'capital shift' for the 8 key....

((((((( Hey, send me the whole (100%) pattern in a link or copy and paste, do so in a PM (private message) then I'll analyze it for you. The entire pattern will be best versus you typing it and perhaps not typing it accurately...........hard to do, also so a copy and paste or link is best.

I'd be looking for pattern notations, so send the whole pattern, top to bottom, K? K!

TTYL!

okay, just did the math and you should repeat the pattern 10 times to get 70 plus the 13 on EACH side gives you 96....either that, or repeat 11 time for 77 plus 13 on each side for 103.....you're right, the 100 is not correct....you have been a victim of 'NON PROOFREADING!'.....unfortunately, it happens now and then....can you count the stripes in the article? is there a picture?.....it will work out, just not the way they said....

I'm confused as well, as the first set of sts is 13, but the group between * and * is only 7 sts, with 13 at the end. That means you have 13, then 49 (in the 7 repeats) and then 13--adding up to 75. Adding 8 sts to the repeat group or adding repeats of the 7-stitch group won't work it out to 100 either. Good grief! And you've tried searching for errata or corrections with the pattern name?

I can't really tell on the photo. It doesn't include the whole afghan. Bummer. Thanks, though.

I found this pattern on the Internet, it looks as though some changes have been made to the pattern on the label.
Hope this helps.

Allison, Girl! You are my BFF!!!! That's the one & I can see right away that its been updated. Now I'll try counting stitches again to be sure, but I suspect this will work. I searched & searched this world wide web (& even became a member on this site), so I know now this is THE SITE to hang out on! You all are fine company! I'll try to help someone, too. Thank you, GB

Funny, I just joined this site about 30 minutes ago and was reading the posts and was fortunate enough to find "the" pattern for you. I didn't take the time to count the stitches, but I did notice changes to your pattern, so hopefully it will work out correctly! Pattern looks really pretty; let us know how it works out.

I guess it just goes to show you that you can't believe everything that's written! I tried looking at the pattern but when I opened it the print was so tiny I couldn't see it but I could see it was changed. I tried to highlight (to copy to something I could enlarge) but I couldn't do that because of the format. Godd luck with it. From what O could see it looks like a nice pattern. Nice to know you are not alone in the world of typos!

I just downloaded the pattern that was sent, it still doesn't add up. If you change the purl 4's on row 17 and 19 to purl 8, you will come up with 100. Also row 19, which is your repeat row forgot the ending stitches.

Row 17: K9, p8, *k2tog, yo, k2tog, k4 * repeat from * to * 6 times, p8, k9.
Row 18: K14, *p8, k4* repeat from * to * 6 times, k14.
Row 19: K9, p8, *k2tog, yo, k2tog, k4 * repeat from * to * 6 times, p8, k9.
