Hello fellow knitters,

I decided to use up lots of my left over yarn and as I often knit for charity, thought a child's blanket would be a good project.

The squares are 1 1/2" and I wanted it to be bright and cheerful.

Since starting this project, I've been wondering whether the blanket idea is a good one, should I make some chair backs, or cushion covers with it.

I've knitted 5 rows of 21 squares each so far. For a blanket I would knit it square, 21 x 21 squares.

Sorry, the photo is not that good, too much light, but you get the idea.

Any ideas please?

It is so pretty. I would think a blanket would be just the right thing! And, what a pretty way to use up yarn ends.

Thank you - I appreciate all your comments.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of continuing with it as a child's blanket - it is quite thick and I imagine would keep a little one cosy.

Hundreds of ends to sew in, but rather that than having to sew the squares together afterwards!

I recently took a class on this...I did mine with worsted wool...left over bits...and made a doggy blanket...for practice.
A lot of the ladies are using sock yarn...yikes! LOL
Yours is very nice!
In sock yarn it would take forever, but would also look fantastic!
Happy knitting and thank you.

I had the same thought as some of the others who replied. I'd just keep working at it until you have a blanket size. Beautiful work. I'm impressed.
Thank you.
Only another 16 rows to go - I think my original idea was better :)
Decision made - I'll keep going.
