The last (and only) time I was in Las Vegas was in 1970. Caesar's Palace was the hottest place in town. The Dunes, the Mirage and the Frontier rocked! And we saw Diana Ross in her first solo show.

They say it's changed since then.

We were there in March 2012, it has changed and not as nice. We stayed downtown, to cross the street was like a cattle herd. Nasty people were on all corners selling sex tickets. The old days were more fun and cleaner.

My one and only time in Vegas was in 1976 during a two week trip to California and other points of interest ie. the Grand Canyon, Mexico, Muir Woods, etc. My husband and I took my parents who enjoyed playing the slots but I am not a big fan of gambling and felt I was throwing money away with each pull of the lever. Never went back. But that's just me. lol

I am with you june I go to Vegas for other things I Love the lights, the people, the GREAT FOOD, and the sights of the surrounding area. There's more to Las Vegas than Gambling. My Sisters and I had a WONDERFUL TIME and we did not spend one dime on gambling. We saw the "LION KING" last year. This time we did more lounging by the pool etc, laughing , eating and sight seeing.

I lived and worked in Vegas 23 years ago, for 5 years. Loved every minute of it. It has changed sooo much since then. More smog, more humidity, bigger, less friendly casinos. The Sands, the Dunes, Sahara, Silver City, Stardust are all just memories. I do not care for Vegas as much any more. I have a friend that lives in Vegas and do visit her on occasion but we stay away from the strip and down town area.
Now I live in Reno, seldom go to the main casino area. But do enjoy going to the Western Village, Baldini's, Grand Sierra (except for the parking, big parking lot, but lots of stairs to get up to the casino) they do have valet parking.
I do like the Atlantis and Peppermill, but rarely go there anymore.
I really like Reno/Sparks, it still has that small town feel and open enough to enjoy the scenery. Sometimes feel like I am living in a post card with the blue skies and beautiful cloud formations.
