I recently bought one of those ridiculous smartphones; they're 'smugphones' really, I can hear mine sniggering every time my fingers stray near the wrong part of the screen!

Anyway I thought I'd make it a cover to protect its delicate screen and since I couldn't find a pattern I liked, I thought I'd design my own.

Thanks, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, although I did wonder when I'd finished knitting it and realised how many ends I had to weave in!

That is beautiful!!! You are the smart one to make something so lovely--every time you use your phone you can feel good about your fingering doing all the right things with yarn!!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I'm kinda sorta getting to grips with the new phone, I think it likes its new cover because it hasn't been quite so cantankerous to-day, or maybe it's because I haven't disposed of my old one so it feels it's still on probation!

Many thanks for the compliments. A couple of my friends want to make it for themselves so I'm writing out a clear version of the pattern from my notes and sketch. I'll post it when I've made sure it makes sense.

OK chaps and chappesses, here are the instructions for my Scrambler Phone Cover. It is tailored for a SonyEricsson X10 MiniPro with approximate dimensions of 3.25" x 2" x 0.75" so you may need to make some adjustments for your own device. I'm working on a slimline cover for standard candybar style phones and I'll post the results in a few days... if it works out!

Feel free to play and improve on my design, knitting is a sharing thing. I used a velcro fastening because I don't want to be fumbling with buttons when the phone is ringing, the strips of fastener also reinforce the flap and the top of the front panel. If you prefer buttons, I would recommend making the buttonhole using the one-row method in the centre of row 7.

Have fun!
