The hats are so cute, and what a lot of work? or is it not too bad to figure out all those letters in a pattern. I have never tried this.
I love your work. I would love to make these too, but I do have one question to ask you and my friends here on this forum. and ask for any input from others , including young moms. I'm a grandma. I work at a public elementary school, and the staff there has suggested that the children wear no clothing, sweatshirts, hats, scarves, back packs, with their names on them. The reason being that a stranger might call a childs name after seeing this, and then use that familiarity to talk the child into trusting them, for "not good" purposes.
Does that make sense, or has anyone else heard of this caution as well.? Just curious.

Wow! Something to really think about! My grandchildren are not of school age yet. But..oh soooo true. I had not heard that yet.
NO..not hard at all to figure out..the pattern is laid out easy for anyone to figure out.

ArleneFaye,
I've always heard that it is best not to put names on children's clothing as well, due to the same reasoning, that a stranger could just call out the child's name, and to the child that person wouldn't be a stranger.

It is a sad world we live in where we have to be so careful.

Yes, it is a sad world we live in, I'm a grandma of 62. And I can remember when you were bad, at the neighbors house, they'd get after you, and you would show them repect for it. Not get cussed out like nowadays. I had a kid about 9 yrs. old cuss at me, he was hitting another boy on the head. I asked him to stop. He swore at me worse then a truck driver..But the hats are adorable, I have a new granddaughter, will make her one. Tthanks for sharing..

how true. i did the same thing 22 years ago when my grandson was small on a helmet hat the i had made for him. i put his name on the hat. i was in a store with him when someone said hi and used his name. i didn't know who the stranger was, and asked how he new my grandson. he said he didn't but that i was flaunting his name on his hat, which he told me was not a good idea. when we got home i ripped out the hat and redid it. the stranger was a policeman and told me in todays day and time it is not wise to put a name on a childs hat.

Boy, those are some stories! Good to know and to be careful.
And so true about lack of respect shown to others and to adults nowadays. I see it every day.
I'm always reminded that if a child acts this way, something is not right, at home, from their childhood, even abuse.Do you agree? I cook Breakfast and lunch at a pubic elem.school, and I always get little kiddos come to me and all their stories,,,,they just want attention and someone to care about them.

Very cute, but unfortunately my first thought was for the safety of the child with their name out there. Just echoing what others have already written. We live in a world that isn't has kind as it was when we were growing up. How sad that our grandchildren can't wear with pride something with their name on it that grandma made with love without the fear that someone may cause them harm.
